Pick 3 of the top 25 players.

Loosely inspired by the current prediction threads here, frequent in this part of the year in golf forums centered on the northern hemisphere:

Which 3 of the current top 25 guys on owgr do you root for and why? Here's my picks:

Rory - The swing and his appearance on interviews and such

Tiger - Being Tiger. And his play has been wonderful to see since his latest comeback. And the heat he shows.

Alex - Fellow countryman... and a really cool customer, both on the course and off.

Tommy Fleetwood

Justin Rose

And sorta Bubba Watson and Webb Simpson tied for third.

Bubba because he plays some whacky shots which are interesting to watch, and Webb Simpson because I always like a comeback story. In fact, that's partly why I like Rose, because he cam back after an awful professional start to be where he is.

Tommy Fleetwood doesn't need an explanation.

Though to be honest, if Stenson was in the top 25, he would be my second place pick above Rose.

In the Top 25 at the moment, my guys are:-

Justin Thomas - he's a Titleist, FootJoy and Ralph Lauren guy and he just seems like he would be a decent lad as well. Couple of silly things here and there but who doesn't do that.

Tiger - because it's Tiger.

Then I am split between Rory and Jordan. Rory is making it hard with at the moment to root for him given some of the things he lets himself say, so I think that I would lean towards Jordan as things stand although if he keeps playing the way that he is, he will not be in the Top 25 for much longer.

1. Tiger- not even close. I don’t even have to try, something inside me just pulls for this guy. I’ve watched him since he was 15 and there is not a single athlete that piqued my interest more than Tiger. Michael Jordan is a very close second.

2. Jon Rahm- Not the most universally well liked person but I like his game. He lacks in maturity but also gives some of the most honest and heartfelt interviews you could ask for. Not sure if he will ever get as much out of his talent as he should until he gets better control of his emotions.

3. Bryson- I’ve always been a fan of The Golfing Machine and those who use it. Bryson has had more success with this than previous devotees Clampett and O’Grady. His personality makes him hard to like and in some cases hard to stomach but he’s got game and does not always follow the pack which is appealing to me.

I'm sure Stenson and Garcia will be back in there soon Hank, so I'm going outside the top 25 based on my sense of the entire upcoming season!

Stenson - still inspired by his Open Championship win and watch the recorded footage from the weekend more often than a normal person should. My wife often utters "man crush" and "special friend" - who cares! And that win inspired me to buy some Legacy Blacks and they are awesome irons.

Tiger - NEVER thought I'd say that. Anybody been through as much as he has, with all the real and puffed up hatred and vitriol surrounding his serious back issues, I'm pulling for him to find a little redemption. Cue being labelled sycophant and fan bois in 3-2-1 ........., lol.

Fleetwood - hey, only Roman Centurions, except for Richard Burton, hate him.

Otherwise, watching almost anyone else playing a great round of golf on a Sunday is pretty compelling. Don't really live or die, lol, with any individual player's results (since Jack retired).

You would have said Phil, except he's #26 and you didn't want to go against the premise, right? Were you cheering wildly last Sunday for Mr. Long?

Phil never crossed my mind as a TOP PLAYER.

Over the breakfast table that morning, I called phil to lose by 1 (rams and pats to advance).

That morning, my son was like, "dad, that's a little harsh on Phil?"

That evening, he was like, "dad, you hit the trifecta."

I said, "Be proud of your name and heritage."

Not exactly intrigues me, but he sounds more like a golfer and a person than a brand.

1. Tiger- well because he 'moves the needle' and is almost always entertaining

2. Rory- Albeit not a fan of some of his words, it's hard not to like a guy with a swing a beautiful as his. Not to mention he keeps up with the biggest bombers even at his size.

3. Jason Day- Aussie family man with a well-rounded game to boot, another smaller guy that bombs it.

Honorable mention- Gary Woodland
