Man Mission you are great at this. Thanks for the tip on the Hard - 2 for the midsoles, Ive been trying to get a pair of No Denim AM 1's sole to match and it kept flaking off. Now I know why. Can't wait to fix it.

If you’re painting midsole they will be hard to keep from chipping / Peeling because of all the wear and tear.

2 Hard is best used on any of the plastic or rubber parts of a shoe like the back tabs of Jordan 3s but it will help a midsole. Something I’ve found works good is a product called Raleigh Restoration - it’s a scratch resistant product and helps with painting a midsole.

WOW! Did you cut the stencils yourself? I've seen them on etsy's and stuff but never really knew how to apply. Do you stencil on the tape, cut out, and then apply the tape and paint? I love this stuff, but I'm more of a recipe guy, less of a pinch of this- taste of that- guy.

Yea, I got a stencil cutter a few weeks back. I kept getting request for customs that required it, and I was ordering them from a store at $25 a pop. So i broke down and bought one. I usually use until negative space of the stencil. The stencils I use are vinyl and adhere to the shoes pretty well.

@mission_scratch The OU stencils, did you make those yourself or did you purchase those somewhere? As a fellow Bucks fan, I'm going to make a Buckeyes inspired pair with the OSU logo on the outside heel and a Buckeye leaf on the inside. Just wanted your advice. Thanks and Go Bucks!

@AThompson_3 - I made the stencils myself, and I already got my stencils cut for my own personal pair of Ohio State Roshe’s but I’m so busy with other customs request from customers.. Hope to get them done soon.

Any tips for mixing colors? My attempts at getting the correct Carolina blue have been less than stellar.

also, are you using a heat gun or regular blow dryer for drying paint?

I’ve had mixed results trying to color match (no pun intended) but Angelus sells a color called UniBlue that is suppose to be a spot in Match for Carolina Blue.

 

and I use a heat gun, since a blow dryer does not get hot enough to properly heat set. You just have to be careful how you use it so you done melt the shoe or mess with the glue holding the shoe together.

Damn, I wish I knew that last year. I’ve tried various combinations of blue, white, light blue, pale blue all with minimal success. I created a passable (to me) AM1 last year. The blue looks terrible next to the new roshe g tours I just picked up. Too bad, Angelus isn’t shipping anything right now due to the lockdown

Is the consensus not to mess with the soles....I like to walk and play often and nothing worse then white or gum soles. They get dirty and quick. I have a pair of these-

 

Plan would be to match the puma logo, silver or grey!

 

If a no go then I may just use these as walking (non golf) or hiking shoes.

I personally would not do it. I got a pair of White / Tan Jordan XI lows and was going to dye the soles and do a custom paint job to match but after testing it On a few beater pair of golf shoes, it didn’t hold up well...

Use a magic eraser on the soles and they’ll look like new
