G410 irons...took the leap

I’m hitting mine like a dream at the moment, feel supremely confident with them, except funnily enough off the tee. Shot 7 over today and my driving wasn’t great, the irons were wonderful. I have a power-spec 5I and I absolutely love it. I’m finding I can flight them better than the G400, and I can also move them left or right as required. Really chuffed with them and think they’ll be a keeper for a few years - was a little unsure at first as I think the G400s were more forgiving, but I’ve tweaked my swing and since then they’ve been stunning.

Really wish they did a 3I, I’d take a power-spec loft and it’d replace one of my hybrids.

My 410's had TT XP95 shafts in them originally but I changed them to Recoil 95's shortly after purchase. The shaft change is very doable but requires special care do to the new Ping hosel design. I played all the Bandon courses during a 5 day stay and I was playing MP18 MMCs at the time. Those are low bounce but I don’t think it matters all that much. There were Ping players and AP2 players and Callaway and TaylorMade among our 16 guys, some solid golfers, and all were fine.

Around the greens is where it is different. What I will say is I hardly used my 58 degree wedge. Maybe a few shots. It is the wedge lineup that matters more. And if you can chip well with a hybrid, put it in the bag. As others have noted, practice your lower running pitches and putting from off the green. The caddies are good and I used the putter off the green often, and there are lots of backstops on greens. It was a blast. Fantastic place. The par 3 course is also sweet.

Background here: Got fitted back in the G30 days. Guy tells me I should switch to a graphite shaft . The one that was Ping’s standard regular Graphite shaft. I hated it. Hit the ball so high actually lost distance. Swore off Ping and Graphite after that. Thinking it was strictly a shaft problem.

currently playing the AP1 718s with steel shafts.

I am playing the Steelfiber i95s; they are sweet, i80s maybe just a bit lighter...

Thank you for the update. My trip was postponed until August, 2021.

Anyone compare these irons with the stock awt 2.0 versus the dynamic gold 105? If so what did you end choosing?

I just replaced mine after over four years together and about 14/15 years of ping g irons in a row. My only gripe with them was when I missed they missed left or right rather than long or short and I found the short irons clunky towards the end for my game.

I went for an extensive fitting and the g430 I tried were not any better but the lack of spin for me put me off (I’m a low spin player). No way I’d have held a summer green at our course with the g430. I also didn’t find the g425 better either when previously tried, so the g410 will always have a place as the last great G iron in my opinion.
