Glad to see Celine get picked. She's had a great season. Jodi? Not so much.

Posted on this the SC thread, but surprised CM actually picked Suzann. Two missed cuts since coming back. Game's obviously not there yet. Much like Kerr, after so many SC's it's time for these old blood girls to step aside, get some Asst. Captain experience as they are undoubtedly upcoming Capt's.

Honestly I feel it's a bit selfish for SP to even ask to play, considering - but it is what it is. She may be the Paula Creamer of 2017, and prove everyone wrong with a steller cup, but the odds are against it I would say. Jodi is also a suspect pick imo. Euro's are not like the US team this year full of rookies, I think only one rookie - Anna. So there really wasn't any need to stack vets like Juli is likely to do - especially after seeing Catrina's picks.... (which I am also against)

Several names on the Euro list are probably like "I got passed over for that?". Lindberg a Major winner last year, and Skarpnord No. 3 on the OOM come to mind...

Agree on Celine though, that is a good pick.

Lindberg's 15 minutes of fame ended last season. Her game's been in the toilet. Zero top 10's this season. 8 missed cuts, including four of the five majors. She managed a 60T at the KPMG.

I feel for CM. There are no Europeans in the Top 10 in the CME race. There are seven in the Top 50.

Were there any players who should have been obvious choices that got left off?

Lol. Not really. Mel, Nanna, Madelene, or Linnea perhaps. Gotta get some younger players out there to get some experience.

Solheim Cup: Will Europe's gamble on Suzann Pettersen pay off?

[https://golfweek.com/2019/08/12/solheim-cup-europe-gambled-suzann-pettersen/?utm_source=smg&utm_medium=wasabi&utm_content=home-latest-news](https://golfweek.com/2019/08/12/solheim-cup-europe-gambled-suzann-pettersen/?utm_source=smg&utm_medium=wasabi&utm_content=home-latest-news "https://golfweek.com/2019/08/12/solheim-cup-europe-gambled-suzann-pettersen/?utm_source=smg&utm_medium=wasabi&utm_content=home-latest-news")

"No one questions the Norwegian’s passion for the biennial competition, nor her experience. Nor does anyone think she wouldn’t have either made the team automatically or been an automatic captain’s pick in normal circumstances. The Norwegian has a 16-11-6 record from eight matches and has played on four winning teams. Arguably no European has more passion for the competition than she does. Pettersen is to European Solheim teams what Ian Poulter is to European Ryder Cup teams."

I'm too lazy to look it up but I don't remember Jodi's Solheim record being all that good. It don't much matter who Catrina picks they have no chance. That being said there are about 7-10 Euros that looked and played like deer in the headlights in 2017 that probably should never be considered again.

As far as Suzanne goes she and Charley Hull and a few others who shall remain nameless were "neutered " in Germany on the Saturday matches by neuter specialists dr. gimme Lee and her assistants along with tactical advice from stinkster.

Dear LPGA:

Why do you bother to publish 'Holes in One' stats on the website? The leaders are all tied with 1. Oy. Why not replace it with something more useful? Scrambling perhaps?

Yours truly.

A big fan.

P.S. C'mon. Does anyone look at the information on your website? Last I checked Jane was an American, having been born in Chicago. Sigh. (Check out the caption on the photo of Jane Park in the Photo gallery)

Women's golf is a hard way to make a living, but for this Symetra Tour winner, it's worth a shot

You can have dreams and have what you want, but with this kind of lifestyle it’s not always going to happen as you planned it to,” Ree said after winning the PHC Classic at Brown Deer Park Golf Course for her second consecutive title on the Symetra Tour, the LPGA’s minor league."

Perhaps some of these ladies would have like an invite, or don't they matter cause they don't play the LPGA tour?

_______

I suspect that it's due in part to the location (PNW) as a standalone event with the Canadian Women's Open in Ontario the week before ... that's a big distance to travel ... along with one of the smaller purses of the year.

"Let’s look at the “what” first and then ask the “why.” Anne van Dam is leading the LPGA in driving distance at 285.86 yards. In all, eight players are averaging more than 275 yards with 18 averaging more than 270 yards.

In 2014, Brittany Lincicome led the tour in driving distance at 271.462 yards and she was the only player to average more than 270. No. 50 in driving distance in 2014 was 252.105 while this year it’s 261.939."

I thought this was a bad schedule / routing too, but thought more people would play with the weeks off that follow (I guess for the non-U.S./European players). I also thought more people would play to try and keep moving up the money list ranking (only two non-Asian events after this). If the field is limited, it could really be a chance for some bubble people to secure their status with a high finish.

It's a perfect setup for Yealimi Noh to steal one; if she gets to play.

Brooke Henderson sealed her deal with a win here in 2015.

Is it struggling or will it just go deep into the priority list to build the field? Seems like it has always provided opportunities for the lower ranked players.

Sometimes they couldn’t fill the field with current players.
