It's interesting that a player without any tour status, Yealimi Noh, is now the leading face of Hana Financial Group, one of the most powerful supporters of golf in Korea.

Nasa is determined to take spotlight away from Shibuno; she shot -5 in round 2 to take outright lead at -8. Inbee is T8 at -4.

Shibuno shot +3 to snap her 29 straight rounds of par or better.

Hana seems more like a trading house. Get in while it's cheap, get out when everyone else sees the value! They don't seem to buy and hold anything.

Nasa leads by 2 with -13; miles ahead of Shibuno, who's +1 and T40.

Shanshan Feng leaped into contention with a 3rd round -9 to go -10 and solo third; Inbee faded to -5 and T14.

Shibuno seems to have been yo-yo the last few tournaments with this one being her worst so far. Seems like Shibuno fever has caught up to her and/or, she was just on a hot streak from July-August (where she won Shiseido Anessa and of course British Open). Time will tell the rest of the year, the TOTO Japan will also see where she is relative to the world :) 18Majors correct me if I am wrong but these results may indicate she is NOT ready for 2020 LPGA (hence why she is reluctant to do so) -- eg she knows she was on a hot streak, she herself admits that she's not the best and amongst the best in JLPGA yet (humble comment, but maybe reality?)

No doubt about it; Shibuno is good. She's won three times this year; including Women's British and a Japanese major and she ranks No. 13 in the world.

She's no Birdie Kim; she's like Jin Young Ko, In Gee Chun and Hyo Joo Kim who'd won before joining LPGA.

Every player has hot and cold streaks; Shibuno is no different. Nasa Hataoka was 17 when she won Japan Women's Open, qualified for LPGA but was totally lost in 2017, but has been brilliant since.

Will Shibuno become No. 1 in the world or the best in Japan? The possibility is there.

Unfortunately for us; she doesn't need to join LPGA unless she wants to.

Thanks for your insights 18majors! Yes sad to say/not see Shibuno in next year's LPGA... Will keep posting about Shibuno based on what I see on their Japan sites as well :) Good thing there's internet these days to keep us connected around the world for talents like Shibuno-san even if they're halfway across the globe...

Nasa is one of the best closer in the game; she shot a final round -5 to finish -18 and won by 8 shots; Shanshan stayed at -10 for T2.

Both Inbee and Shibuno shot -2 to finish -7 and -1 for 9th and T33 respectively.

Congratulations, Nasa!

So, since this is about the 2021 season and Solheim Cup, not sure there is a good thread to put this under but I just noticed Marathon is going to be a sponsor for the 2021 cup at Inverness, not far from Highland Meadows. Last time 2 big golf events were in the area, the LPGA event took a one year hiatus. It seems unlikely the Marathon Classic and Solheim will take place the same year, with the same sponsor, only weeks apart. Anyone think they are using Marathon’s money for the Solheim instead and there will be no Marathon Classic in 2021?

TLDR they got money for both events. Said they wouldnt hold the Solheim there if the Marathon didnt happen as well.

Muni He isn’t in the field for Indianapolis.

Alison Lee, Danielle Kang, Lydia Ko and So Yeon Ryu in the field although all 3 plan to be in Japan or Korea for events on the KLPGA or JLPGA the week after.

At the Canadian Open, So Yeon said she was planning on going to Korea and remaining there except to play in the Japan Women’s open and then pick it up again in China. Wonder why she changed her mind?

So Yeon has only played in 15 tournaments this year, fewer than all but three players in the top 30 in CME points. I'd say she's simply filling out her schedule. She played 23 events last year, and 33 in 2017. It looks like she'll finish the season with 21.

Not sure if you saw her interview at the CPWO but she talked about burn-out and how she never thought she’d feel the way she had been feeling on the course and how she never wanted to feel that way. Either way it’s an about-face from just a few weeks ago.

I imagine a lot of players feel that way at times, especially when their A game has been hijacked. A few weeks rest spending time with family and friends away from the course usually puts some pep back in their step. Lexi skipped the WBO last year to recharge, but was back playing within a couple of weeks.

Yealimi Noh shot +2 in round 1; 11 shots behind the leader. She needs a -2 round 2 to make the cut.

Yealimi shot even for 2 rounds; she missed the cut by two shots.

Looks like Nelly picked up a win on the LET Lacoste Ladies Open de France. Edit: Oops, a bit premature. She holds a 4 shot lead after 5 holes over Celine Boutier in the final round.

IMHO, She's been playing SOLID ever since she went back to Japan (I certainly wasnt on the imminent demise camp whatsoever, was there anyone here on this forum that was? :)- even if she had not won, she has had decent results in my view. In all honesty, I didnt expect her to win this one -- she got a bit lucky due to weather changing AFTER she was in the clubhouse but I expected her to be in top 5-10 which makes it a good solid round. The frenzy surrounding Shibuno fever reached all time highs in August but she has finally had some time to recuperate, results are showing. Heck Japanese media followed her every move, from the airport back from the UK, all the way to interviewing the Grandma/Auntie that she buys her "sweets" in at her hometown in Okayama. Needless to say, all this frenzy is taxing whether it be psychologically or physiologically -- there were a few tournaments where she was playing with a fever, was in the hospital getting IV prior to the tournament, etc... hence given the circumstances, I'd give her a solid play (not shabby whatsoever)... As mentioned in the Shibuno thread - she's had some bad breaks that would certainly have changed people's first impressions if say, the NEC tournament went Birdie instead of bogie finish for example... Still hoping these results plus her accomplishing her Y100MM goal in JLPGA convinces her to play in LPGA North America for 2020 and there's enough of a Japanese International company to convince her to try it out (eg ANA, Lexus, JAL, etc)

Addendum to the article for you guys -- the first to reach 100MM Yen in her first JLPGA tour year has only been achieved by Ai Miyazato in 2004. So Shibuno is the 2nd one. Furthermore, only Nasa Hataoka achieved 100MM Yen in prize money in the JLPGA tour faster than Shibuno in a year -- having achieved it on the 17th tournament she competed in while Shibuno achieved it in the 23rd (this is just domestic winnings excluding any foreign winnings on other tours... :) No small feat!

No trouble for Nelly at the Lacoste, as she ran away with an eight shot victory over Celine, and ten shots over T3.
