Congrats to AVD for her 5th career win on the LET today. Let's see if she can put something together on the LPGA now. Seems a lot of folks thought her distance off the tee would have propelled her to some success last season( myself included ),well it didn't ( 1 top 10 ). Good luck in 2020 Anne.

Distance is nice, but a player has to make putts. AVD was 96th in putts per GIR. By comparison, Sung Hyun, Brooke, and Carlota were in the top 20 in putts per GIR, while being in the top 10 in driving distance.

One year ago, Hinako finished even and T37 at final stage of Qualifying Tournament to earn her JLPGA card, and the rest is history.

This year, ninety-six players will suit up for the privilege.

Hana Financial Group formed a "Team Yealimi Drive for No. 1" and it's no kidding. Yealimi was whisked away to Korea since she completed her Q-Series and she's been there for secret training since.

Will we see a new and different Yealimi Noh come January 2020?

(I think she'll medal in the SEA Games for sure, just a matter of what color)

Very interesting but not surprising. Yealimi Noh has all the tools to win right away and I'd imagine that like Muni "Lily" He, Yealimi is a marketers dream.

It was tough to watch her lose the lead down the stretch in Portland with mental mistakes, so hopefully they're working on those aspects of her game.

in fairness, not a lot of people did (princess superal was more touted then, bianca wasn't in a lot of people's radar screens back in the Philippines)...

 

for me, her going to Gonzaga was step 1, step 2 was when she won the Philippine Open in 2017 when NO ONE expected her to do so, transferring to AZ was step 3 (a huge step 3 bolted by the NCAA team victory)... and now, LPGA bound, step 4... not sure where this leads her truth be told - the competition will be really stiff -- so curious to see her hopefully get opportunities to play and chance to retain her card (unlike Dottie or Clariss this yr)... of course, health / injuries are the wild card with how hard she drives the ball so ill take it one tournament at a time...

any medal in the olympics, even if it was a Tie for Bronze would be a major feat to any golfer :) B got lucky a bit this time around as her experience (or her opponent's inexperience - with a bogey bogey finish) managed to give her the Gold... the course is unforgiving if you miss the fairways, as evidenced by Bianca's double bogey par 5 in the last round... home course proved an advantage here... still, it was great to see Bianca go out of her last individual amateur event on a high note :)
