Long Term Glide 2.0 Wedge Reviews

Might be building an all Ping Bag .

410 woods 210 irons but not sure on the Glide 2.0 Wedges - they look good enough but not sure about performance.

Can somebody give me some long term reviews?

Feel / Spin / Performace from tight lies and sand???

I would be ordering them with DG S300 Shafts and Getting the SS as I'm a pretty neutral wedge player.

Thanks!!

What grinds? The WS is quite tough to use on tight lies... but is good from very light fluffy sand.

Overall, they feel very good and are forgiving. SS grind is going to obviously be the best all rounder.

I absolutely love mine with the ES grind. They are the best wedges I've owned. I bought them late last year, so I need to see how they are through each season. But they've been great in the tight lies that dormant Bermuda gives us this time of year.

2 thumbs up. My best golfing buddy has called them “the magic pings” since the first day I played with them because I hit them so well.

No fairway approach shot outside of 15 feet that first round with them in the bag. I have Recoil Proto 125’s in them. Best feeling wedge I’ve ever played.

I'd say the SS plays very much like the S grind from vokey but it seems to have juuuuust a hint of heel relief and IMO opens up a bit nicer than S grind vokey.

They also make a TS grind which I think is fairly similar to M grind. I would assume that works well for guys who play on tighter lies more often. If you're like me and 95%+ of your rounds are on "muni courses", Ie, not immaculate privates, then you'll see some longer grasses and softer turf. The SS works great for it, and the first time I played the 58* on the course, I nearly holed out twice with it.

Even off tighter lies like a typical range mat, I haven't had issues.

I think guys have hit on it well here. The SS grind is very versatile and will work well out the sand - and can be opened up pretty easily. My favorite wedge for full shots. I carry a 54* SS and a 58* SS and they cover all the shots. I also have a 58* ES that some people love but I have not found it to be as versatile...it does do a better job in fluffy sand.

I bang on about it every time there is a thread about these, but the ball speed retention is magic! Compared on a launch monitor to a traditional bladed wedge it's night and day. We all miss hit shots but with these you won't get punished, you'll hit the distance you need more often.

I'm not big in the normal Glide because I don't enjoy the feel of stainless steel.

Now if you are talking Stealth 2.0, then we can have a discussion. I'm fairly neutral in my swing, or so Titlest tells me, not much of a divot, and i like mixing up the grinds a little. I go ES in the Sand Wedge as it's the old reliable Ping Eye 2 grind, and then SS grind in the 60 - the combo gives you versatility. 8620 Steel gives you a softer feel. I was comparing the SM7 to the Stealth 2.0, since both are 8620 steel, and in the bag with the AWT shaft made for Nippon in the Stealth and Nippon 125 in the SM7, the Vokey felt a tad lighter through the ball. Both are excellent.

im liking the glide 2.0 black wedges.

I don't understand why they don't sell them with DG Shafts off the rack.

Agreed. I think I'm switching back to Vokeys because of this. Love the Pings for partials but I overpower the AWT on full shots way too easily. So much so that I never hit full SW ever always knock down gap.

After reading all the reviews and the Not allowed because of spam poll I ordered the black stealth 2.0's in a 54 / 12* SS and a 58 / 06* TS last earlier this week. Should be in Monday hopefully, my home course is a links course with tight lies everywhere. Finally realized I'm getting old and need to play the most forgiving clubs I can. Just got rid of my 2 iron, 3 iron in the closet and put the Hybrids back in play. Love my PXG SW / LW but as I said looking for more forgiveness.

I’ve been watching for a price drop on the original 2.0’s. Hoping to grab a custom set once I don’t have to pay $190 Canadian per wedge.

how is the spin on these wedges?

Very high.

But there isn't really much difference because all the manufacturer's are making wedges than spin a ton. Spin is almost irrelevant in 2019 (because they all have it) and it's just shape, grind, feel IMO.

do you think these wedges spin as much as the old 2009 groove wedges??

Curious if after 10 years the wedge manufacturerers have caught up spin wise

I am all Ping (great opportunity), these wedges are really good, spin is high for sure, that said, correctly fitted they are an amazing thing, love the feel, for me, distance control and spin are just right, and as mentioned above the original 2.0 should be at a lower cost.
