Bad ads? Use link in first post to Report.

Link still doesn’t work…Kitchenaid ad is terrible on mobile (iPhone, google chrome). Tells me to scroll but half the time I literally can’t scroll past the ad, have to refresh the page.

Just this morning videos on Golfwrx pages started to autoplay (to be clear I do not want them to). Is this everyones experience or should I dig around in my browser settings. It's very annoying.

Possibly a browser setting.

 

On Firefox (& most others ?), hold down CTRL (command on MAC) and hit the comma ",". This usually open up your browser settings.

 

There s/b a "search" box. Type "autoplay" and hit "Enter"

 

From there you should have default choices, such as " Block all audio and video", "Block audio", "Allow both",,,,,,, or some such. My FF browser also allows me to block by URL (site).

 

Save your choices and you should might be good to go.

Thanks they don't autopay on my Mac here but just started on Edge at work. I might have changed something by accident there.

Anyone besides me getting loud annoying adds popping up constantly while on this site?  Any idea how to eliminate them?

The ads in the thread below the post are live everytime, I open a page, it plays. Very annoying if this is WRX sponsored.

The presence of auto-play video ads with blaring sound is not a welcome addition. I can't visit the site if every single post is accompanied by incredibly loud ads. There should never be auto-play sound on the site.

This is a major problem, and the change is on the forum side. I replied in the "bad ads" thread and pinged the mod. Hopefully these get removed ASAP. I'm guessing it was not an intentional change. 

 

EDIT: I cannot be positive the change is on the forum/ad side, but that is my guess based on what I wrote below. However, I certainly may be wrong, as I am at some point(s) every single day of my life.

Never used the Edge browser but I would expect it to have the same/similar settings.

I'm not sure how you determine the change is on the forum side if only a relative handful are experiencing the problem.

 

Apparently you're one of them. Did you check your settings ?

 

Then again, is it only ads that are the problem and not embedded videos in posts ? Perhaps you could try an ad blocker ?

I say it's on the forum side because it suddenly appeared at the same time for a bunch of members, myself included. I didn't change browser settings. I suppose something could have changed with a browser app update,but I'm not seeing the same issue on any other sites. Seemed more likely that it was a new ad set that started on the forums, since others reported the same experience. 

 

Either way, it seems worth reporting and getting a response from the forum mods to see if they know what's going on. If they say nothing has changed at all, I'll move on and try to figure out the source of the issue.

Are you seeing ads actually pop up in separate windows unmuted?

Despite turning off Autoplay in every setting I can find in Edge (it's the default browser at work) the sound in the ads still autoplay. This started on its own yesterday morning which would lead me to think it's on Wrx end and not with my browser.

 

Edit to add it happens in every sub forum I go into.

I'm here too for the annoying ads with loud sound. The ad in this thread is playing as I type this. As I move down the thread the ad drops down in its own box.  How do I stop this? It started this morning for me.

Ads start playing and if I'm on my phone the only way to get them to stop is leave WRX.

I just had the TM ad - sound on - play when I clicked over to another forum. I let it play out thinking it would end, nope, it was followed by the TItleist ad. Same browser and ad blockers I've been using forever, nothing has changed on my end but clearly something has changed on the back end.

Not only do I get the sound from the popup ads that used to be muted I also get the audio from something else that I can't locate. This second one seems to be clips of pros talking about their clubs, etc. I have no idea where this audio is coming from but it is Wrx based.

I had the same thing happen during the Adam Scott video, a second TM ad further up the thread was also playing.

 

And no, I haven't made any changes to my browser or the multiple ad blockers I have to use on here. No changes.

It is the new ad campaign.  Hopefully something can be done behind the scenes to reconfigure the ads.
