Ahhh, I see. In reality It’s no problem though. The toxic part is the dust. So, you don’t want to be grinding them, but that’s about it.

I’ve got a set of copper Eye 2 +’s that I reshafted and bent 3 degrees flat, no issue.

D - Ping G430 LST 9-degree, Kai'li 60S
3W - Ping G400 Stretch 13-degree, Alta 65S

I heard that shops were afraid of toxic fumes if they heated the shafts/hosels. I have no firsthand technical knowledge like you though, and I don't know how you pull the shafts. I also heard they couldn't be bent more than 1 degree, so that info I got was clearly wrong. Too bad you're not in my neighbourhood, I'd get you to do it. Too much of a hassle for me to send them to Ping

I have reshafted a set of BECU’s and they were indeed difficult. Not sure if it’s the epoxy they used or if the BECU metals just don’t spread heat to the inside of the hosel like more common iron metals, but they were easily the most difficult set of heads to remove from steel shafts I’ve ever worked on. I finally gave up on a couple and took them to my local shop- and it took some extra sweat with his big Mitchell puller to get them apart.

The FG-17 is a fantastic design and a truly timeless shape. This battle-scarred beauty will still remove the cash from 98% of wallets while in the hands of a skilled operator. The bag chatter is a testament to the softness of the forging. The Staff FG-17: a true benchmark in every sense of the word. Thanks to this picture I am currently fondling my Project-X 6.0 shafted set and am mumbling to myself about this long winter...

because they are beryllium copper, which is toxic, and I'm told they are also considered brittle. Most shops will not do this work; it is recommended they be sent directly to Ping. Even then I don't think they'll guarantee the work.

I found this; http://blog.2ndswing...becu-isi-irons/

Can't see how they can be toxic once manufactured.

There might be a tiny, tiny amount of metal dust when cleaning out the hosels but it's not like the shops are reshafting copper Pings by the dozen nowadays. The dose makes the poison.

Brittle they are though, impossible to adjust in any way, otherwise I would have bought a set when I was into Ping a few years ago. Couldn't find a set with white dot before losing interrest.

Hey chopper, what are you hitting there?
Callaway Rouge Sub Zero 9°
TM SLDR S 17° 4-wood
Mizuno MP Fli-Hi 21° driving iron

Dynacraft (?) 24° 4-iron
Titleist AP2 710 5-pw
Wilson FG Tour PMP 52, 56, 60°
Rife 460 Tour Blade

After how long does being "out of form" turn into "a bad golfer"?

All three are 7i’s, the Top the Staff Tour 100’s, the middle is my Staff 59 Tour Blade, the last iron in my bag and the bottom iron, an Ode to BIG STU, a Mac Custom Tourney(Oakmont Country Club Logo) from back in the day. Madison hit it and really liked it, though she’d get another shaft, lolol

The difference in size between my Tour Blade 7i and the 100 is amazing, lolol.

The 100 is like a GI blade compared to it, and that 100 is thinner than the Mizzy 4, 5 or 18’s, lol??

Cheers?

Jeeez. The hosel on that Mac is 1/2 the weight of the clubhead. I bet the sweet spot is awful close to a very bad place.

My all time favorite iron.

I Played Staff for 19 years before switching to Mizzy, then switched back to em my last 1/2 of my last season in the game with the 59’s in the bag as I Played my Best golf in almost 20 years and while I had a set of 17’s, and even put em in the bag, they didn’t stay there as these ‘78 Tour Blades(1st pic, left side, Internet pic) with the retail version on the left and custom shop on the right, booted em out and went back in the bag. The ‘78 Tour Blades are also the irons on which my 59’s(2nd pic on the right below and pictured above with the 100’s) are based. The ‘78 TB’s were also Sam’s and Payne Stewart’s favorite Staffs, though Pete’s were the ‘72 Button Backs(3rd pic below left) on which the 100’s are based(4th pic below right), and they are probably Staff’s most Iconic iron, as witnessed by the fact that their 100th Anniversary iron was an Ode to them.

The 17’s??

Meh ;) , lol

While the 17’s were nice, having Played both they and the 1976-1980 Tour Blades(‘76, ‘78 & ‘80), I didn’t think that they touched any of those releases, especially the 78’s, and I consider em the most overrated irons of Staff’s Iconic Blades.

Besides, most who ooooh & ahhhhh over em never even Played em as many weren’t even born or were lil boys when they were released, lol??(I’m not saying that this about you Boogeyman as I have no idea your age or if ya Played em :) )

Same with the Mizzy 87’s, lolol

Again, overrated and couldn’t touch the 14’s, 29’s or 33’s, and yea, I’d switched to Mizzy in 1987 with the TP-9’s(bottom pic) and got a set of 87’s the next year in Europe and Played two sets across four seasons.

Nice but again, couldn’t touch the other Mizzy irons that I mentioned and I was one of 3 guys in the Burgh even Playin Mizzy at the time as their distribution was weak in the US at that time and neither other guy had the 87’s in their bags however listening to guys talk on this board you’d think that Mizzy was like Titleist with all these Ams running around with 87’s in their bags??

Okey dokey then, lmao?

Also, the resemblance between the 59 Tour Blades & the 100’s with their predecessors, the ‘78 Tour Blades & the ‘72 Button Backs, is uncanny.

The new Staff Blades??

Again, Meh, lol

I’d take the 100’s & 59’s over em

It’s damn hard to improve on perfection and those new Blades ain’t it?

As always, just my .03 worth?

Stay well Gents?

RP

**Later Edit: 02/25/19, 9:01EST~ I added the limited edition Fg 59 in the bottom pic. While I had two sets of these and they’re identical to my retail 59’s pictured above except for the script on the faceback, the retail 59’s were a birthday gift from Madison and are the ones that were in my bag. Cheers? RP II

These new Wilson Staff Model blades look spectacular.

They’ve got the stepped up the face back however they basically reintroduced the 62’s, circa 2019, lol

I’d always go with the original, and with the 62’s, you can get a pristine set for $350-400.

In fairness though, when you’re Staff or Mizzy, and even if you’re “Joe Blow,” there’s only so many design changes that one can do to a blade, lol

As Sam used to chirp, “a Blade’s a Blade, just gimme a damn iron,” lol

Cheers?
