RIP Jim Steinman... Such an underrated songwriter. And one eccentric dude. I'll post more of his stuff in the 80s and 90s threads, but can't overlook this contribution to rock, love the album from start to finish.

So with you Q. The use of the all the string instruments in the fast paced tune blew me away also. 

I think I found the show you saw.

 

Right on Q! Jeff Lynne and his band are awesome. With ELO's music you felt like there was almost always a full orchestra filling your head.  But of course Lynne was a Traveling Willbury.

The show I saw was a regular concert setting. And Roll Over B. went on for like forever, or at least 10 minutes.

They were the antithesis of Kiss. But they rocked. Use to listen to them, Boston , Led Zeppelin, Kansas, etc. in the Rockin’ roll Machine, a 1963 Bel Air that my friend owned in 1976. The stereo system was worth more than the car, Jensen TriAxial speakers with a marantz power amp attached to a Sony Cassette Player . We would drive all around, smokin the wild wood weed rolled in zig zag papers or by one hit bong. DumbWord not allowedes we were. Now I listen to George Strait times change.
