The 60's and 70's song appreciation thread (obscurity welcome)

Never Been Any Reason - Head East - Flat As A Pancake (1975)

 

EVERY time I hear this song it reminds me of spending the night with a buddy at his brothers frat house at Purdue (1979?).  Kegs, good music and good people.  No "Chads" or "Karens", just solid kids.  There was a girl there from my HS that was a few years older than me and a natural beauty.  I found the "courage" to make my proposition and was gently shot down in flames, in a kind way.  Swing for the fences, boys and girls, swing for the fences.

I was a Senior in high school and I knew most of the words but I didn't know what "spill the wine, take that pearl" meant

My first piano recital in grade school had me attempting this tune. I selected it because Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid was in the theaters and receiving major acclaim. This song was everywhere.

Last one for tonight. My fellow Detroit brother sings with soul y'all. One of my all time favorite drive fast with the windows down songs. 

 

I was born and raised in Detroit 1961-1975 and I feel I was fortunate for that upbringing . To have the change of seasons in glorious Michigan as a kid was a fab experience.  I had the lakes and I had snow ! ..........and Detroit was still a great city in my time. I am grateful for Bobcat's thread and all the enjoyment the pages have provided us. Fantastic music.
