36” putter

Does anyone play their putter at 36”? I’m 6’4” and his feels best for me. The problem becomes swingweight - I have a 343g head Kingston KP2 with a pp58 so it feels good but slightly heavy. Sometimes on the shorter putts the putter head wants to outrace the hands. I’ve thought about a 1.0 SS countercore grip to help balance things out a bit. Anybody have this issue or can share their experience?

I have a 35” evnroll on the way that I plan on extending an inch. If swingweight gets out of whack, I’ll put a pin at the end of the shaft to get it back.

 

I’m 6”3 and like to putt pretty upright.

I am 6' 5" and I play with 37" and 38" Putters. The 37" is David Musty Wooden putter and the 38" is a Counter Balanced Golo7 Scotty Cameron. The weight on the Musty is lower then the Golo7, but the swing weight is only slightly heavier due to the counterbalance weight on the Golo7. I really like both and switch back and forth between them.

Thanks for the replies! What kind of pin are you referring to? Maybe I’ll try that or one of those lead plugs and keep the pp58 before I try the SS - can’t beat the feedback of a thinner rubber grip!

6'3" and have a pretty upright stance. I bought a 36" a few weeks ago thinking that it would work. After a few nights rolling at home it just felt off. I returned it and picked up my standard 35".

I play mine at 36” but it’s a stainless Ping Zing so head weight is probably only 310g? I’m ordering a Sigma 2 Tyne 4 at 36” though. The length def make a difference for me, I’m 6’3”.

Not sure exactly what they are called, but picked a few up at Lowe’s. Put a couple wraps of electrical tape around the bottom to avoid any rattle and you are all set. They come in a few different weights.

They’re called clevis pins if I recall correctly. Same aisle as the screws. I’m 6’ 4” and used them exactly as the above poster stated (some electrical tape wrapped around until the fit is correct). Cheap and easy.

I'm 6'3" and generally play 34" or 35". But I just went for an Edel fitting and got put into a 36" putter which I'm going to order. Just feels comfortable and my back thanks me too, I wasn't sore after the 1 hour fitting so a big plus for me.

If you're looking to dial in a specific swing weight, just put a counter weight in the top of the shaft before gripping. Check out the Tour Lock weights. You can put them under the grip, or punch a hole in the grip. Probably more than a random clevis pin at the hardware store, but it will allow you plenty of weighting option.

The clevis pins work great. I have used them several times before, they are cheap as well. They get installed in the shaft, under the grip.

 

I am 6'7" and have tried everything from 33" to 38". For me I putt best @ 35.5" but I'm most comfortable @ 36".

During a round I never get uncomfortable with my 35.5" putter but I'm only putting 1-3 times with walking in between. My back does ache a bit during longer putting sessions due to being hunched for so long. At 36" I could putt all day, no back strain at all but I found myself not starting the ball online as often.

I'm only 6'2" but also have a bad back. I've been putting primarily with a 35/38" TM 35-38" Spider Blade for the last few years, but also mix in a 34" Tour 880 (Maranello style). Just built an Odyssey O-Works 7S Tank and couldn't be happier. I added 30 grams to head weight, and put a heavier/longer shaft in along with a counter-balance grip with a 50 gram butt weight.

SeeMore actually include a clevis pin as an option in their ordering process. Cheap, easy way to achieve swing weight, counterbalance.

I'm 6'1 but 2 of 3 times I've shot my personal best were with a 36" putter (two different ones -- cheap Odyssey and Ping anser2).

 

I like to be upright with eyes just inside the ball and elbows bent a little -- like Ricky's putting stroke minus the $30MM in the bank.

I'm another tall-ish guy (6'2") who loves a 36" in putter. Really shows the benefit of getting properly fit for length and lie.

I had the putter regripped with a flatso countercore 1.0 with 50g weight and will try it on the course tomorrow. Putting in the house still feels heavy to me but we’ll see on real grass. Maybe I’ll go get an old studio stainless at 330 and try to be like Rickie??!!

6'6" with a 35.5" putter. I prefer a 350g headweight. (A little on the heavy side works great for me.)

 

One issue is, I putt best with a slightly flat lie and the more you extend, the more upright it feels. I counteract this with a 69 deg lie.

Ended up extending my new ER1 to 36.5. Added a 40 gram clevis pin to the end of the shaft. Swingweight right back to E3 which feels great.

Weight is weight. For me it’s about achieving swing weight, so however I get there is fine. I have a weight on this particular one because the grip is slightly lighter. If I were to go to a heavier grip, I would remove the weight.

Yup weight is weight. If I add weight into a handle I don't want to surpass a 2:1 head to handle weight ratio. How I get to that ratio won't really matter as long as I get close.

I’m 6’4” and played an old 36” MgBr Anser for years. Joined WRX, tinkered with countless putters at various lengths from 33” to 36” and my putting has gotten worse. Read countless threads about this length vs that length, yada yada yada. Conclusion: forget what others say I should be playing; 36” just feels right, so 2020 is back to the basics. No adjustable length, weights, or inserts; just a 36” 25-year old Anser that is probably 40 grams lighter and 2” longer than “I should be playing”. Maybe a few strips of lead tape for good measures, who knows...

I am 6'3" or 6'4" depending on the day lol and I use roughly 35.5" to 36.25" between all my putters. I prefer heavy too like 375g or plus for most. 350g is about as low as I can go on fast greens. Try it out at 36" and see what you think!

So after indoor testing cause of quarantine I've found that I'm much more comfortable with a 35 or 36" putter and that's putting bare foot. I'm sure on the course in golf shoes I could probably push to 37" since I putt in a more upright stance, but I think 35-36" would be my sweet spot unless a fitting says otherwise.

I am 6'4"+ and play a 37" length at 76 deg lie, so pretty upright. It is a very comfortable position at address. I ordered it that way and it feels very balanced (Blad2), but I have no idea of the specifics weighs of the head, shaft, grip etc.

I’m 6’3” and when I got fit for a putter the first thing the guy did was move me up to 36”. Have changed putters since but got my current one extended to 36” also.
