I enjoy TPC Michigan, and after 6pm Northville Hills is cheap and no one is on the course, easily fly through 18. Moose Ridge is a cool layout, slow as hell whenever I played it. Huntmore is a cool track. Forest Akers West is great, Eagle Eye is worth the drive from the Detroit area.

Surely rated highly at one point, haven't kept up with it in the past but The Mines in GR is a fun play. Love Mike DeVries designs. +1 to Thornapple Pointe too. Anyone have any suggestions near Kzoo? I saw Heritage Glen on here but someone wasn't fond of the conditions. Looking to play something out there this week.

Is Milham park (Kalamazoo) still in good shape? Haven’t played there in years but loved spending summer afternoons on that peoperty.

I go a little deeper on the bench for my "hidden gems". I think both Champion Hill and Pinecroft are very fun and very beautiful courses. They both have great topography, play pretty firm, have a minimalist look with bunkering and taller grass off the fairways/rough, an Up North feel, and beautiful views. I would have no qualms with them being my "play every day" courses. I view them as the lighter versions of Crystal Downs, Kingsley Club and Arcadia Bluffs in that area.

I was just going through this list and was going to say Champion Hill, haven't played Pinecroft. Champion might not wow people right away, but it has a lot of subtle great things going for it as mentioned.

These are based on layout/fun (for me). I like elevation change and "quircky-ish" holes. I dont like "links" and play around 6,200 yards. Walk all of them, if they let me.

Not only one of the better courses in MI but one of the better conditioned courses I have ever played...Bucks Run in Mt. Pleasant. It was a few years back and it is entirely possible I just caught it on a good day but the conditions were impeccable.

 

Shepards Hallow is nice. Not worth primetime rate and you better bring your A game from the tips. It can be a beast.

I love Mystic Creek, but it’s in Milford, MI. It’s on the grounds of Camp Dearborn...but not actually in the city. I haven’t played in a few years...definitely adding that to the list of courses to hit this year.

Eek, I remember playing for much less 2 years back. Meant more in terms of design, then again $25 in the summer is far less than anything Arcadia, can't go wrong.

Calderone off I-94 between Jackson and Chelsea. Absolute gem with many holes that remind me of Arcadia Bluffs without the coastal views. It's also cheap and in pretty good condition considering!

Dream and Nightmare in West Branch. Just returned from a two day trip with my son and I have to say they were in great shape! I don’t know why those courses don’t get more love.

Shepherds hallow distances.pdf$49 is a very good price for 18. If you've never played it, you'll enjoy it. It has the feel of northern Michigan. #18 is one the most picturesque holes in that is not on Lake Michigan.

In case you don't follow, and to the rest as well, Manistee is today's GroupGolfer deal. $20 for 18 and a cart, obviously with some restrictions, but still a great deal at a great setting.
