Happy to have been wrong - just crazy that he’s that good regardless of the equipment. Clearly not a wrx’er

First Rose now Molinari with new manufacturer. Yet so many were saying its big mistake changing equipment.

Testing and feedback (TrackMan etc.) nowadays means at this level a new manufacture is no big deal. The argument is no longer applicable.

Congrats to Molinari and Callaway. Can anyone confirm those MBs are Miura-forged?

I agree, especially considering these are the best players on the planet. People let their own bias get in the way of rational thought. Bettinardi makes a nice putter but Toulon does as well. Can't go wrong with either.

Someone explain to me 'why' he decided to go Callaway. His bag last year produced an incredible summer starting in D.C. at TPC Avenel and then onto the Open. Why the need to sign a bag deal off-season? Can't be for the $$$?

He wasn't a TM staffer if I recall, just using TM equipment. This year Callaway offered him big money to play their equipment. In golf, there's no guarantee that Molinari would ever win again. As a player (which btw these guys are technically contractors) you gotta take the money when you can get it. It's always about the money.

Big mistake.

:taunt:

“My first week as a Callaway player…so happy to see that the switch I made wasn’t as crazy as some people thought. I know the clubs are good for me and I showed it this week.” - Francesco Molinari

Hearbreaking to see that beauty of a putter moved out for a toulon.

As much as most Wrxers would hate to admit I guess it must be the person putting and not the putter :pimp: Looks like the Toulon works and the high cost of a putter must not always matter :swoon:

"The British Open champion enjoyed his "best putting day ever" which he capped off by sinking a 45-foot birdie at the difficult par-four 18th at Bay Hill in Orlando."

Though much is taken much abides;
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.
- Lord Tennyson

I find it a little strange that he’s using the old Apex hybrid. I wonder what he didn’t like about the new one.

Yeah I noticed that as well. I play those Apex hybrids and love them. Haven’t been able to try the new ones but the originals are hard to beat. Clean and simple.

You sure they are not classic tourneys? Re forged by the MAN? Maybe brought the plates out of retirement for tiger and Francesco and 1 other... pure speculation, but the best kind. I feel like MB001's are curved a bit more than those 5-9.

    • Sony Open Pics from January 11, 2022 Part 1
      I was able to get out to the Sony Open today to take a few pics.  I guess due to Covid precautions they kept the spectators pretty far from the players.  Also due to camera restrictions they've put in place, I wasn't able to bring the big lens like I normally do. Hopefully they'll ease up on the ropes and I'll be able to get more pics tomorrow!
