Starting at the 1st page and seeing the OP has very little content, and then the 2nd post in the thread is another member with very little content saying “I was wondering the same thing”. No disrespect meant, but feels like an ad to me. Like when I read another thread from a member with practically no content. “How do we feel about TM these days?” My mind instantly jumps to market research??? Just feels off to me. When it comes down to it I suppose it doesn’t really matter. Just kinda more curious if nothing else, how that’s handled or looked upon here.

I recieved my order of 639 CBs 4-W on Monday. I ordered them with the KBS Tour 120 stiff shafts +1/2". I also had Sub 70 bend the 9 iron to 41* loft and the PW to 46* loft to match my Mizuno MP20 MMCs. My MMCs have DG120 S300 shafts and I wanted some more height and that is the reason I went with the KBS in these.

The first range session went great with my 639s. I will be able to get on a Trackman next week so I can get some numbers so this range session was basically an eye test. They feel great on well struck shots. They may not be as soft feeling as my Mizunos but honestly what other iron is lol. Im not sure if its the shaft however I think the 639s feel better to me than my Mizunos. I possibly was hitting these higher which is what I want but it was hard to tell. The yardage between the two was the same also. They look very much like my Mizunos at address. They have a slightly thicker top line. Blade length and the roundness of the toe are almost identical.

I will know alot more once I get on a Trackman. With what Ive seen so far these are a good set of players CBs. I think I will be gaming these this summer. I love the looks of them and the KBS shafts feel great. I cannot express enough my feelings on Sub 70s customer service. It was fantastic and they had these irons built in 3 days. Jason was awesome too and we talked on the phone about shaft options. I am most likely going to order some raw wedges to match these irons. Sub 70 has a great product that more people need to try. The price is almost too good to be true for the product they make. Im definitely a fan of Sub 70.

I forgot to add I also recieved a hand written note thanking me for my purchase, a bag of tees, and a nice ball marker. I dont know of any other manufacture that does this. It was a nice touch. Kudos to Sub 70.

Heres pics. The MMC is on the left.20210309_190652.jpg.83cfc2450f978281fd25bacb2fccdc66.jpg20210309_190837.jpg.18837b3a7fd566f32a73e2710be8ab4a.jpg20210309_191038.jpg.4672b9d10cc985189c4b2a4a1b16dfeb.jpg20210309_190610.jpg.ab9de6d20f18d1816c735c024d8bc7dc.jpg20210309_190628.jpg.6c8ee672fee079d4d4ee11cf5b8ad6ef.jpg20210309_190751.jpg.af6c3de20053d403814bb47f657b8145.jpg

Can I ask why you got these with those gorgeous MMCs in you bag. Just wanted something that went higher?? You say they’re not as soft as the MMCs, then say they feel better than the MMCs. Am I reading that correctly?

I bought the 639s basically because I didnt want to reshaft the MMCs. I was fit for the MMCs and the numbers are great. I just felt like I needed a little more height. The MMCs average 80ft maybe 85ft. My home course is all hills and 90% of the approach shots are uphill. In theory the KBS should flight higher. I liked the looks of the 639s and the price was right so I said to myself "why not?". I like trying different irons. Heck within the past 2 years Ive had 716 AP1s, T200s, and now the MMCs which have stayed in the bag the longest.

The MMCs feel better on center strikes for sure but the overall feeling of the club during the swing is where the 639s feel better. It has to be swingweight or shaft profile even though the difference between the 120 S300 and the KBS Tour is only 2 grams. I cannot really place my finger on it. The 639s just felt right, an almost smoother feeling for lack of a better word. Im sure it has everything to do with shaft and not clubhead. Both irons are great

Glad you like them!  Did you demo them beforehand?  I have the KBS Tour 120s in my 699 Pros, so I can attest to how great they feel through the swing and how smooth they are.  These are my first steel shafts after only playing graphite my entire life, and I was blown away by how stable and smooth they actually feel.

I'm actually having the opposite problem as you, because they're launching a little too high for my taste, so next week I'm doing a shaft fitting at a local shop where I'll likely be hitting a P790 head with the different shaft options Sub70 offers and see what gets my ball flight down a bit, so I'm interested to see how the heads compare.  If nothing else feels as good as the Tour 120s, though, I might just get used to the higher ball flight.

I’ve read through this thread but didn’t see anything - has anyone been able to compare the 699 (non pro) to the i200/210?  Or are they more inline with the g700?

I'm talking head size and shape, offset etc.  I greatly prefer a more compact head and the g700 are just too big for my eye.

Being lefty, the 699 pros are not an option.
thanks!

@BunkerFinderI talked to the CEO Jason earlier this week and he said the King forged tec are going to be the more similar to the 699's. I'm a lefty as well and these are the irons I'm going to purchase, but wanted to test a couple of different shafts before I pull the trigger. Hope this helps, thanks

I have the 699s and while they aren’t an extremely thin line, I’d say they are close to the ForgedTec or 790s. If you’re wanting something like the p770s (still hollow body), then you may prefer the 699 pros. Slightly thinner and slightly less offset, but honestly, the 699s look pretty good.

as always, if you aren’t completely sure, ask for a demo club for each and just see for yourself.

@BunkerFinderWhat shafts are you looking for? The 699 pro's are not available in lefty as you know. Demo's are available if you wanted to try them, however they weren't for me as I'm looking for the X100's. Depending on what shaft you're looking for, demo's may be available in the 699's. You would have to reach out to Jason at Sub70

I went with the 699U 3 iron and the 939x 4 hybrid and could not be happier.  I almost wish I had not just purchased a Mizuno HM/HMP combo set!  The communication and attention to the sale is amazing.  Hats off to Jay and his staff!

699 are more comparable to the Ping i series, Callaway Apex, Mizuno JPX Forged, etc.  And I guess the Forged Tec/P790 noted above.  Definitely not the G700, and not even the G410 type of iron.  The 699 are not a very chunky iron.

@BunkerFinder

Go back earlier in the thread. On July 31st I had some pics of the regular 699's vs my 2016 generation Cobra Forged tec (Not the new hollow body ones)

October 1st I also posted my current gamers the 699 pros vs the same Cobra Forged tec 2016 models.  Might help you out.  Some other comparison pics if you dig way back through this thread.

How are you liking the 699’s? Have you hit the 699 Pros also? How do they compare to  the major OEMs?

So what I’m understanding is the 699’s are comparable to P790’s, the 699 Pro’s are comparable to P770’s, and the 639 CB or MB would be similar to P7MC or P7MB’s?

I’ve only hit the 699s and I like them a lot. Any problems I have are with my swing, not with the clubs. If you have you’re measurements, loft and lie information, it’s hard to get better value.

Definitely very interested in these clubs from everything I've been reading on here. For the guys that have had the 699 Pro and 639 CB in Black, how do they look after they've been gamed for a while? Could anyone post any pictures with some long-term wear?

Has anyone compared the 639 CB to the 699 or 699 Pro in terms of performance?

Awesome, good to know...thanks! Just picked up a set of '17 TM P770's w/ PX Rifle 6.0 shafts, but I have a feeling they are the wrong shafts for me.

Have a fitting next month, and I think they'll tell me I should try different shafts. If that's the case, I'm going to take a hard look at the 699, 699 Pro, or 639 CB based on all the research I've done so far.

I have the 639 cb in black and a 699 4 iron (utility)... I got the black wedges as well, but would probably order the satin irons if I did it again... there is a decent amount of bag chatter on the five iron already. I’ll post pictures if you want.

the 639 is pretty much a standard cavity back iron... feels good, launches like a normal iron... honestly, it’s not significantly different than my Taylor made oversize irons from 96... which is exactly what I was looking for.

the 699 has some more tech baked in and some more forgiveness. For that length, I really like it. It feels solids and launches the ball well for me.

I’d love to see some pictures of the long-term wear in the black finish if you had time. The black 639 CB and 699 Pro look super slick, but would definitely be concerned with how they would look a year from now.

I dont have the combo. I just got them on Monday so they still look new. They seem like they will wear just like any other iron. They look better in person than off the website

Sweet, enjoy!!

I’m going to meet up with a Sub 70 local rep here in my area next week, so excited to see them in person and swing them!

Probably leaning toward the 699 Pro in satin from what I’ve seen/heard so far just for the extra distance and forgiveness, but the 639 CB are beauties and definitely tempting too!

Well, to update my earlier short review - these clubs are amazing. I really hit them well today, and yes, better than my Srixons. I was surprised by that, but they felt less harsh on mishits and the distance and height were perfect. Last time I tried them I didn't have my best ballstriking day, glad I took them out again today. They felt fantastic when flushed, and when I mishit them, I could tell but it didn't feel awful and I got plenty of forgiveness in my opinion.

The black finish is going to wear pretty quickly I think, I could see nicks and some wear on the edges just from being in my bag on a cart (will share some pics tomorrow when I clean them). That being said, the reason I bought these in the first place is because I LOVE black irons but hate the idea of dropping $1k+ only to see them look like arse super quickly.

At this price point, I'm super happy to beat them up and eventually replace them. These clubs are legit.

edit: Below is a photo that shows the finish wearing - I've had these in the bag for 2 rounds. The faces actually still look pristine.
