Sub 70 Clubs

I just wanted to give a shout out to the TA III Putter . . . I’ve had it for about a month now and my partner in tournaments has forbidden me from ever getting rid of it 🙂  I love the weight of the putter and the single dot alignment on top of the wide body head.

I also bought a 286 Forged 50* wedge which has outperformed the old Vokey 50*, but most on here have already raved about the wedges.

The putter . . . Let’s just say it has already paid for itself!!!

Just confirmed my order this morning with Shane on the phone.  I know three weeks or so is not that long of a wait for custom clubs, but man i wish they were here now, can't wait.  With the demo 639cb, I am almost a club longer than my z965 9 iron (the 639 is one degree stronger).  And a playing partner today commented on how the ball just seemed to pierce the wind and hold its line really well.

I ended up ordering 639 CB black in taper tip with KBS Tour 120S, 1 inch black with red and white lines ferrules, 1 degree weak through the set with Winn Dri-Tac 2.0 standard.  Also picked up a ball marker in red, i really like the look of their markers, will see on paint durability with the ball mark tool usually jingling around in the same pocket.  So excited for these to get here so they can start earning back some money.

Thanks JaySub70 for the help with some questions and a big thanks to the staff at Sub70.  I got replies to every email I sent (to the customer service email) answering my questions within a couple of hours each time.  They even sent me an email Monday (Labor Day) to confirm they could get me the taper tip shafts and what the cost would be.  Very impressed.

@JaySub70 I wanted to give an additional shout out to Shane. I just got off a really long call with him to get my 639 CB order sorted out. Required a lot of juggling and moving parts, and he got me squared away. I should have the irons in the bag in a week or two, and am really looking forward to it.

Great looking putter. My favorite of the lineup. Tommy gave it a nice distinction with the sight dot only. All ya need!

Got my demo 699s in today.  I got a few swings in today in my back yard, not enough to really make any decisions though.  I'm hoping to hit the range Monday over lunch.

Hi everyone! I’m in need of replacing my very old putter. How are the Sub70 putters? Is there a kind you would recommend? I like the TA III & the 002 putters. Thanks!

I've got a 004 Fang style mallet putter and absolutely love it. Great feel, good weight (with the additional weight kit) and great quality - I can thoroughly recommend it (I put up a review in the putter section if you need any further info)

Tropical storm is moving faster than I thought, so over lunch practice is out for the next few days, but I was able to hit the range yesterday.  All things considered, I should have stayed home.  I hit about 1/4 of my shots fat and got frustrated and really couldn't make any determination.  When I did make good contact, they were going left and right for reasons unknown to me.  On the plus side, by the time the storm blows through, my 4 wood should be here.

First range session in the book. Loved everything I got yesterday. Just ordered another two 286 wedges, which will bring the Sub70 club count in my bag to 11 of 14. First round with the everything is tomorrow, and am really looking forward to it.

What’s the feel like and are they demanding for someone of your handicap?

They feel great. You can tell right away if you miss, but it's not punishing. I hit a few thin and fat, and probably only saw a 5 yard difference in carry. I don't think they are demanding in the way that traditional blades are. Like I tried the MB Plus irons, and couldn't hit them to save my life.

One important factor here is the shaft. I was dead set on getting what I felt was the right shaft for my swing, and if Sub70 doesn't have the one you need in stock or something very very close to it, you should wait.

What finish and shafts did you order?  I just scheduled my onsite fitting for next Thursday Sept 23rd

The whole experience is amazing.  Is the course, itself, worth $600?  It's an absolutely incredible course from start to finish, but probably not.  However, from the moment I arrived through the entire round, I could just feel that I was on hallowed ground.  I've never experienced anything close to that feeling on a golf course.  THAT made it well wort it, in my opinion.  Getting to experience all those shots first-hand I've dreamed about for years was really, really cool.

Yes there is.  Our 949X fairways should be available in the next 4-6 weeks.  We will have 3/4/5/7 wood lofts in RH.  There will also be LH 3/5 wood options.

Have any more details on this you can share? Is the 949x fairway going to be targeted towards the lower handicap player like the hybrid, so basically a replacement for the Pro Tour or something different? I’m looking to replace my 3wood was looking at the Pro but this might change things (though if it’s open by default I’m probably still best off with the Pro).

The next generation of the Sub 70 Fairway wood is universal in its appeal and playability.  The 949x Fairway takes up the mantle of the previous generation in its forgiveness and customizability, while utilizing nascent technologies to improve ball flight, trajectory, and spin characteristics for players in the single to mid-teen handicap category.  Dual sole weight ports allow players to dial in their ball flight and can promote both draw or higher launch bias, depending on the setting.  The attractive carbon fiber crown is lighter than traditional head materials, and allows our engineers to put more weight on the sole, producing a mid to high launch with low spin and thus increasing distance.  The 949x's cupped face shape helps shots stay close to the target line, even on mishits, and its razor thin 455 carpenter steel provides the hottest ball speeds possible off the face.  Still classy and understated, this is a club that everyone can play.
