The TAIII wedges look great but I hope they don't ditch the JB wedges. I love my JB wedges. They're going to be my go-to wedge as long as they make them.

On a more fun note, I just got my Sub 70 order yesterday. 639 CB/MBs and the 949X Pro Hybrid arrived to join the JB wedges I got last year. My bag is 80% Sub 70 now. That's what happens when you combine quality and price the way Sub 70 does.

Need an honest review on that hybrid! It’s been in my cart for awhile. What shaft you go with in it?

We definitely won't be ditching the JB wedges. We'll continue offering the 286 and JB. The JB Full Groove should be available in the next month or so. As noted above, probably mid-Summer on the TAIII wedges. Then we'll continue with those four wedge models. I'm sure the JBs will stick around for the long run. If anything there might be some more options on those in the future or a new version of them...but I don't envision them ever going away completely

Do you have a ballpark price for the taiii wedges?

So that sycamore 001 FN is the putter I’ve been seeking for years. Carbon steel, under 1/2” offset flow neck in an anser style head with light milling on the face. Took no time to get used to the head weight. The feel is exactly what I want. The Toulon is gone.

Didn’t love the stock grip but that is no matter as a custom black leather handle is on the way from @BestGrips . All in under $200 for an incredibly nice putter. Thanks @Sub70 .

I have now hit it on the range and wrapped up 18. This thing is legit. The hybrid takes off like a rocket. I hit baby draws with it all day today but I have an inside out swing and can draw anything. My buddy commented that it sounded like a solid crack of a wooden baseball bat. Like a home run each time.

I went with the Evenflow Riptide 6.5. This will not leave my bag for a long time.

That said, for me, it performed more like low spin bullet hybrid. I have very limited experience with it but I didn't get the sense that I'll try to land a soft floater from 230 with it. But I also got the 2 (16*) model so take it for what it's worth.

Went out last night and played a few holes/dropped balls from different distances. These irons are great and exactly what I was hoping for! I was very pleased with the feel, turf interaction and launch angles. Ever since I got rid of my Srixon 965 blades, I’ve been looking to get back into something similar. The 965’s were ‘forgiving’ blades, and these are very similar. I’m not sure how that works, but I know I’ve never been able to hit Titleist or Mizuno blades. I felt like the Srixons were a unicorn blade, but I left them when I fell for the hype of the new T100. Either way, my search is over…for a bit.

PS pulled the trigger last night on the 265 wedges and a hybrid.

Had a great experience with Sub 70. Ordered a 949X fairway and 001 putter today. Realized fairway had no specs in order confirmation email. Emailed customer service and 20 minutes later I get a call to add my specs. Simply unheard of in todays world.

Thanks Jay and crew. It is refreshing to see companies truly care about their customers. I know I’m one of many with positive experiences with Sub 70, but they deserve the continual recognition.

Received my 4 hybrid and it’s juicy! Went with the Proforce V2. Hit some beautiful baby cuts with it. That’s not a shot shape I’m used to seeing with my hybrid. I still need to do some more testing, but I was surprised by the distance. On one hole, I hit 2 balls off the tee with the 22deg hybrid and 2 with my 15deg 3 wood. They were all within 5 yards of each other? So, either this thing is a cannon, or my 3 wood needs a timeout.

Received 2 wedges as well, jury’s still out on those. Will get more time with them tomorrow.

Ordered the Sub 70 staff bag. I saw it on Youtube's DHG channel. One of the guys(Bernie) just got fitted for a set and I thought the bag looked sharp. I've always wanted a nice looking staff bag but $400+ turned me off. I'm sure I will get a few comments from my buddies. Hey....Sub 70 should give me a discount for the free advertising they are going to get. Ha ha.

Don't own any Sub 70's clubs but may buy a couple of wedges soon. My Ping Glide wedges are getting long in the tooth.

Had a few rounds now with the 699 Pros now. These things are simply awesome. Just as soft as my old MP-H4 mizunos, and better yet not crackly sounding in the long irons. Distances are a club longer, though likely cause the lofts are a bit stronger in the longer irons. Either way very satisfied.

In one case I had one shot about 190 yards into a par 3, pulled out the 5 iron. Chunked it just a bit but the ball still took off nicely, just a slightly lower flight. Although it landed short of the green and spin must have come off it cause it bounced up and rolled up nicely just to fringe front left of the green. Saved par with 2 putts from there. Certainly would have seen a bigger distance loss in my old clubs.

Just what I'm looking for forgiveness wise, feel wise, performance wise. These will be in the bag for a while!

I'm looking at some of the new 659 irons, and I see they are forged DT-4 steel. I've never seen clubs made from this. Is this material harder or softer than say, 1030 carbon steel? 431 Stainless steel? Just wondering where these are on the hardness spectrum of steel. They look amazing!

DT-4

I asked on another forum and did not get much info, may also have asked earlier in this thread, but🤔?.  There does not seem to be a lot of info about it.....Google search and it will get you some info.  It looks like in the narrative on the 639 CB it is referred to as - DT-4 soft stainless steel.  I'll let others comment on that and the forging process for stainless.  Personally I don't care, as long as it performs.

From an MGS article on Sub 70 wedges: "The JB wedge is forged from 1020 carbon steel as opposed to the ever-so-slightly softer DT-4."

Just picked up a Sub 70 cart bag for my son as a returning home from deployment present. I thought it would go well with his 699 irons and wedges. A very nice bag also. I wish when mine fell apart and I needed one they had them in stock at the time. I have their 286 wedges and they are very nice. I’ve been very happy with them the few times I’ve been able to get them outside this spring. They’re worth considering if you need wedges.
