Sub 70 Clubs

Smaller than my Forged TECs for sure, especially in the long irons. You don't see the cavity at address of like the 3,4,5

Slightly bigger then Apex Pros from 2016 or 2019.

Maybe the best comp would be the Mizuno JPX forged series. They remind me a lot of my 850 forged.

Does the 649 mb have the lowest amount of offset in the Sub 70 line?  How do you guys like it?

Ordered a test 8 iron from Arias zero offset and thinking of getting a 649 8 iron to put up against it....

Thought I'd throw mine up here as an update.  Purchased a 5-AW set of the 659 CB a couple weeks after they came out.  Played the 699's before.  Added the driver, 3W, 54 & 60 wedges quickly after based on many of the solid reviews.  Just ordered a putter so now it will be all but one club in the bag will be Sub70.  Couldn't be happier!

Bridgestone might not be considered a major OEM from an equipment standpoint anymore (Very sad since they made outstanding irons) but the older J40 irons are the perfect comparison iron.  They look alike and they feel very similar.

Going based off the pictures above, they look just slightly long heel to toe. Not by much though. I’ve been on the fence of doing a full CB set, TC set, or a combo set. Only thing throwing me off is that the TC irons have a thicker top line but shorter heel to toe.

I demo’d the tc and didnt like the top line or amount of offset.

Question for the group: purchased this utility iron and wondering why when soled and hanging naturally it’s sitting dead shut? Just wants to rotate closed. thoughts?

Weird. I just did that with mine after seeing your post and it didn’t do that. I have a steel shaft in mine but I don’t see how that might make a difference.

Is the 849D vs the pro driver really that much draw biased? Was wondering if the upgrade in forgiveness doesn’t sacrifice performance.

I ordered up a set of the 659 CB to try out. Did anyone else notice the weird offset in the mid/short irons? Long irons hardly have any but the middle to short irons look like they have a lot of offset. Stinks because I love the irons I would probably keep them instead of my srixons but dont think I can get over the look.

The website shows diminishing offset as the irons get shorter.

I am expecting a set of 659CB in black this weekend. was waffling between the TC and CB, but they didn't have the TC in stock so went with CB. Kind of worried about the offset now, but guys from Sub70 said it was only minor and pics on their website I couldn't really see the difference.

I guess ill see how they roll on Sunday.

Here are the 4 7 pw. To me there is more offset in the shorter irons compared to long irons. May just be the hosel transition. The irons tho are awesome. That’s my only issue

Two questions.

Anywhere in the Seattle area that fits for these? Maybe just Club Champion?

Assuming not, I’m playing the Apex CF16’s with Modus 120s in them. I’ve hit other irons since then but nothing that makes me want to take them out of the bag. I used to be pretty solid and could game a more players iron, but between work and kids that style of iron keeps me a low-ish single digit HC.  The only real issue is that they spin slightly less than optimal.  Any recommendations on a demo combo to try?

Always best to contact their customer or even shoot Jason the owner an email. They’ll steer you in the right direction.

Those 659CB's look awesome. Too bad they don't have any shafts that are worth a dang. Will they sell just the heads?

I can’t stop building a set of CBs. They look awesome. I just can’t pull the trigger yet. I actually built out a whole set from 7w to 58* and it came out only $200 more than what I paid for my current irons. Someday I’ll pull the trigger.
