St. Andrews Hotel help summer of 2020

So, I'm in the early stages of planning a scotland golf trip. probably 4 days of golf in the st. andrews area. I'm looking for help with a hotel. It seems like there's lots of options, so would love some help narrowing down my search. I'm going to be travelling alone most likely so simple is fine. I'll also be playing lots of golf (goal is to average 36 a day). I won't be spending much time in my room, so would rather something in the "budget" range but since I'm alone I'd love to be in walking distance of downtown. Obviously clean is important, but I am fine with a small room but don't want a shared bathroom. I've looked on air bnb and that would work if I had more than one person, but I don't want to be staying in someones spare bedroom and stuff. Restaurant on premises isn't needed as long as I'm not a far walk from a few dining options.

That's cool. It looks like McIntosh Hall is about 70 bucks a night. I'd be ok sharing a bathroom in a dorm type setting.

I am staying at the Golf Inn. I have had family and friends stay there in the past and they said it was perfect for what they needed. Smallish, but clean and breakfast. I think it is more mid level, but the location is prime near the 18th green.

If you want nice but cheap, and its only about a 10 min walk into town, i would go for the Premier Inn, depends if you are walking to the courses, if you are i would pick something closer, but none are going to be as cheap

The area around Murray Park and Murray Place is lined with B&Bs and guesthouses. On my last trip, I stayed at the Craigmore House, and it was absolutely fine.

I imagine any of them would be just fine, the link that Mignuz posted will get you to lots of them. I like having breakfast prepared for me in my temporary home, and that location is close to everything. The walk down the hill along the Scores, with the R&A clubhouse right in front of you, and the Old Course stretching out beyond it, is absolutely magical, every time.
