Bandon Top Food Item/Dishes

Recommended Posts

Bandonistas, please post your favorite food item/dishes to purchase on or off the resort. Please state the dish, which restaurant, and why it is good.

I've been searching posts and the food recommendations are scattered all of the place. Figured it might be helpful having it all in one place for those heading out there.

Echo the grilled cheese. Also enjoyed:

McKee's: Grandma's Meatloaf, paired with the Caymus Malbec

Shepard's Pie, paired with their Bandon Pale Ale

Gallery: Scallops, paired with Domaine Drouhin "Arthur" not-very-oaky Chardonnay from Williamette Valley

Pacific: Lobster and risotto, paired with a bottle of Rombauer Chardonnay (oakier Chard that matched well)

Hanger steak, paired with a bottle of The Prisoner meritage

McKees has some options our groups have enjoyed:

-Meatloaf: Very controversial lately. Some love it, some like it, some leave disappointed. I personally really like it. Good hearty meal after 36. Potatoes, gravy and green beans are a nice addition to it.

-Burger: Just a solid burger and fries. Bacon and egg included.

-Pizzas: Not bad pizza

-Chicken sandwich/burger: has a spice to it (pepperjack?) and bacon

Since clambake up'd it a notch with pairings, I'll say the grilled cheese goes down well with an Irish car bomb. That combo will set you right for the next round.

A flask filled with any above average scotch or whiskey and any of the golfing options is my perfect pairing.

Actually the ribs have passed the meatloaf as my go to at McKee’s, pork chop is really good as well.

Hot chocolate at the practice center has always been spot on and hit the spot and the chocolate chip cookie at the Trails snack shack.

Pacific Grill: Hot dog (not just an average dog, it's more like a Chicago dog, and takes a while), grilled cheese, chowder

McKees: meatloaf, pork chop, pot pie (massive)

Trails: chili, turkey wrap

OM: bratwurst

In town:

Tony's crab shack: grilled fish sandwich

Edgewaters: Smoked salmon pasta

"take that, you miserable little white swine!"

Trails End: Rockfish sandwich.

Pacific Grill: grilled cheese or hot dog, both much fancier than the name implies. The ice cream cookie is probably the best dessert at the resort.

McKees: I like the meatloaf, maybe I've had good luck with the cook. I also like the Uncle Larry's burger, and the Chicken Pot Pie (more of a chicken stew with biscuits floated on top). The scotch eggs are a great appetizer, although for 8 bucks you don't get much.

Tufted Puffin: tri tip sandwich.

In town the Edgewater has a really good rockfish entree.

I agree on the dog at Pacific, excellent.

I'll disagree on the chili at Trails. No comment. Use your imagination.

yeah the grilled cheese was highly memorable at Pac. so was the chicken vegetable soup there.

i only tried the shepards pie and pizza at McKees and the shepards pie was pretty tasty. the pizza was ok.

we went with a group of 60 so we had buffet style dinners at MacDonald Hall which basically is the food from McKees. i remember the pork ribs being pretty tasty as well as all the chicken options we had each nite.

the last night we had the meatloaf and it was a bit dry, but i'll chalk that up to being buffet style.

i had this breakfast brown rice bowl at Bandon trails and that was pretty tasty. it was a bit different than what i was expecting as it was almost like a fusion fried rice. in general the bandon trails food was more fusion and lux. probably too refined for my taste buds. i also had this lunch chicken burrito and it was a bit too bland for me, just not seasoned well.

i definitely preferred the food at Pac... their breakfast burrito was pretty bomb too.

What is your preferred food item when you go to Bandon? Admittedly no one should go there thinking they're going to have top options, but still.

I haven't been yet, but plan to be there next year. I will not be eating their Chili or Mexican food.

Is that four stars or did the puritanical language filter get you for saying nothing remotely offensive?
