Bandon Top Food Item/Dishes

Now I'm kicking myself. Each night I considered the shepards pie and each night the bartender talked me out of it. Said it was small and not as good as the meatloaf, fish and chips or chicken pot pie, which the three of all underwhelmed. But screw it, it's been a month and at this point all I can think about is diving into a subpar slice of meatloaf!!! I want to go back so godd*mned bad.

**Since there were hardly any photos of food from Bandon when I was researching before I went, I decided I should take some pics and share for other folks planning to eat there in the future. Here's what I ate there:**

**Monday 4/22/19 Lunch: Grilled Cheese Sandwich from Pacific Dunes. It was good but not as good as I expected.**4z89jm4bpxzp.jpg

**Monday 4/22/19 Dinner: Shepard's Pie from McKees. Excellent! I would order again.**qpa3k7zcthyl.jpg

**Tuesday-Friday Breakfast: Egg, Bacon, PepperJack from the Turnstand at Bandon Dunes**9j0fekzpnm59.jpg

**Tuesday Lunch: Didn't have time to eat in between Bandon and Pacific rounds**

**Tuesday Dinner: Scotch Eggs and Wedge Salad from McKees. I would eat the Wedge Salad again but not the Scotch Eggs**hxotladggtoa.jpg

**Wednesday Lunch: Brown Rice Bowl from Bandon Trails. Very good and filling for the the afternoon round**7vmqki71a6j8.jpg

**Wednesday Dinner: Meatloaf from McKees. It was good but not as good as everybody hypes it up to be. Then again, anything after 36 holes tastes good**9cgogez71jba.jpg

**Thursday Lunch: Tempura Rockfish Sandwich at Trails. It was good but sandwich fell apart pretty quick.**d3ycmnr0pmjb.jpg

**Thursday Dinner: Chicken Pot Pie from McKees. Very good. I would order again**mwsbyszjbqfx.jpg

**Friday Lunch: Lamb Shank from McKees. Awesome. Did not taste gamey at all**p5187e0g02g7.jpg

**Assorted items from other people's food at McKees**huwzjngc3fit.jpg

**I liked McKees so much that I ate there every night. Actually sitting upstairs in McKees allows you to see some of the golf course. Not bad when the sun sets. Bandon Trails ambience and setup is real zen like. I wasn't too impressed with Pacific Dunes and their offerings. I'll make it a point to eat there more when I come back. Definitely need to eat a good sized meal if you're planning to play 36 holes a day. I was very impressed with the diverse food offerings the whole resort had to offer. I didn't even dine in the Gallery which is another whole section of food offerings. Next time.**

I tried the shepherds pie this trip. It was very good and worth putting into the rotation. Also got the grilled cheese (again) at pacific. It was good, though the preparation was slightly lacking, as the cheese wasn't really melted.................... This trip we also ordered food from the Gallery/Puffin and McKees (you can only order pizzas), to enjoy at The Inn. This worked out perfectly with our group of 10 guys. We had the place to ourselves and were able to chill out on the lounge chairs/sofas and adirondack chairs on the patio. The only downside would be that your food isn't quite as fresh since it's basically room service.rl0v9s82m5m2.jpg

This is fantastic, love the pictures. Couple thoughts: My grilled cheeses were definitely more well done and had an amazing crispy exterior. Maybe I was there at a quiet time they weren't rushing. Seeing the mashed potatoes reminds me why I wasn't so high on the meatloaf. They're basically the Hungry Man TV dinner mashed potatoes in my opinion.

Interesting to hear that you were more satisfied at McKees than Pacific, I would flip them without hesitation. I think the worst thing I had at Pacific was better than the best I had at McKees.

Is it healthy to be more than a month removed and sitting here daydreaming about the seafood bisques and other random things I ate out there?

Another change I hadn't really thought about, is the bread is different. Last couple of times the grilled cheese used a more oblong/oval bread, similar to a sour dough/artisanal loaf vs what now appears to be standard white bread. Hahaha. I love Top Chef btw.

I never received a good answer as to why they took the fish tacos off the menu at Trails, but they were great. They seem to have replaced them with the Tempura Fish Sandwich, which fell apart quickly as you rightly pointed out. If someone from Bandon reads this, please bring the fish tacos back, preferably before July. Thanks!

Here's a dish I miss. Fish and chips at Trails back in 2015. Might be the best I've ever had. Unfortunately it's no longer on the menu, and the one at McKee's just isn't the same.
