my biggest issue is the font is too big. i can only see a few posts at a time, and used to see like 15-20 without having to scroll.

Also blinded by the posting setup. Its hard to tell the difference between posts within a thread. everything was much cleaner & more concise before.

Good luck with the transition.

@CaddiesFault

Font size looks OK to me.

Have you considered it's your computer ?

Try holding down the "CTRL" (or "command" if you're on a MAC) key and hitting the "-" key to reduce the size ? (The CTRL and "+" increases it).

Hope this helps.

tried this new forum on my home and work comp. the headings in each forum take up twice as much space, so i can only see about 8 topics at a time on a given category(19th hole, instruction, etc), where as before i could see about 20 before having to scroll. I think i would know if it was different on other sites as well...anyways, maybe its not the font size, but just the amount of space each topic is now taking up. Theres significantly less items on the page there was before, making you have to scroll more to find posts.

On the previous site, there would be at least double that. each topic is taking up so much space on the screen, it generates extra work for the user to find anything but the very newest posts.

For anyone that has ever been on a forum that went through a software upgrade - at first no one likes it, then you use it for a few weeks, forget about the old software and appreciate the new software.  The same will happen here ?

This is vastly different. This is a woefully unfinished product going live to a membership of hundreds of thousands of users.

Dude, it's a free site for you to use. This isn't some mega corporation. They just came out and said they're still working on it. It's not the end of the world here.

Dude, the more users they have the more ad revenue they generate. It’s in their best interest to make the interface as user friendly as possible. It’s not like they’re a charity...

After getting over the shock of the current (interim?) interface, and paying attention to some of the new stuff that is starting to percolate into the user experience, I think I would like to thank and encourage the owners for working to improve their product. I was frustrated at first, but prolly nothing like what the owners are experience. Keep on working on the improvements--I'm not going anywhere.

Thanks for Golfwrx. There is nothing else close on the Internet.  B)

Thanks for the update Richard. I'm sure it will be fine. It took the company I work for 3 years to recover from making the switch to SAP. Now THAT sucked!

@lawsonman Haha. I used to work for Deloitte - we did a ton of SAP installations. My job was to try to convince a company that the transition wasn’t all that bad (which tells you all you need to know!)

Same for me WM...I worked for Deloitte and a couple others around SAP as well. All coming back to me now: FICO, SD, ABAP programming. Fun times!

IOS APP losing functionality or will it remain the same?

Sadly it’s done. It was far better than this even not being updated and with no support. They’re talking about algorithms and a lot of irrelevant stuff that most posters don’t care about. Clicking on the “new posts” tab was good for catching up on recent and trending topics. Clicking on the “participated” tab was perfect for keeping up with conversations you were involved in. Then if you wanted to look for something specific you had a nice search feature that even saved the searches. This is terrible right now and most of what I’m hearing isn’t very promising. I’m sure it’ll get better but I think their vision is way different than that of most people.

Sure. I also would’ve thought basic functionality would’ve been put out initially.

Is Opinder still banned?

How ironic would this be - Opinder is allowed back in and updates his Putter thread with something actually usable, while Bobcat is banned from posting anything relating to a SLDR C.

It's fun watching these bugs get fixed on the fly and the appearance evolve.  The constructive criticisms and suggestions are helpful and welcome.
It is looking much better with the "Who's online" icons gone now. The content being scrunched up in the center of the screen instead of using the whole screen makes it really tough to read longer thread titles and navigate through the different sub-forums. I'd say it really needs to be widened. It is especially noticeable when using a larger monitor. 1/2 of the screen is just blank white space.
yeah, it's like 20% dead space on the left, 40% forum content in the middle and 40% dead space on the right, that needs to be fixed.

and a dark color option, please. so...much...white. feel like i'm face down in the snow.Try holding down the CTL (command on a MAC) and hitting the "+" sign a few times.

It’s always annoying to get used to something new but whatever, I’ll adapt.  It’s a free forum so owners can do what they want as far as I’m concerned.

Glove: ML
Tees: 2 3/4
Towel: white
Repair tool: metal
Ball Marker: largest poker chip in the world
Iron headcovers: wait, what?

The feedback system is annoying

I’m very impressed with with how smoothly this is progressing.  Creative approach to enabling communication as system upgrade moves along.  Conversion runs can sometimes go bad very quickly.  Long ago, this became the best golf forum from the very first day it opened for business.  I’m sure the end result will be a new standard of excellence.  Keep it up. A little patience is a small price to pay.

I get that, but that issue probably didn't begin over a week.  Likely the change was planned long in advance.

They have been talking about changing platforms for quite a while.  They probably would have preferred to get more done before making the switch, but too many resources (time) were going toward keeping the old system up and running.

So an @ causes a notification, but a quoted reply does not.  The both should cause notification, or neither.   In my opinion, of course.  :)

It's discussion board but the discussion doesn't take place in real time but in posters going back to where they were before.

"Likes" and being quoted should generate a notification - just as it did before. That's how we know where to look for a continuing discussion.
