This new version sucks. At least I can say I was here when the great golfwrx debacle happened. I see other great forums go down in flames, this one is in a nose dive today, but hopefully they can fix it. 

 

I will check back in a month.

Don’t know if this has been touched on, it’s hard to search right now.

On mobile, Safari on iPhone 8. 

If I click on my avatar on the top right, I get a drop down menu with 4 icons, for notifications, favorites, messages, and I presume profile settings. When I click on any of those icons other than the star, nothing happens. Can’t see my messages or my notifications, can’t get to my profile. 

Am I missing something?

Same.  And here's another thing for the fix it list.  Used to be you got one notification that there were new posts in a thread you had participated in--could be one new post, could be 100 new posts, either way you got one notification.  Now you get a notification for EACH new post in every thread you've participated in.  So yeah, log out for a few days, log back in and you've got 100s of notifications.  This is the only thread I've participated in on the new site.  Log out for 20 minutes, come back and I've got 10 notifications.  Not good.

The Discussions link from the pull down menu on a mobile device is functionally replacing the New Content link, but it would be better if it did not include BST posts. Also, you could easily sort Discussions you had participated in and by time and toggle between all new content, "your" new content, and by time. I think those functions were very popular so I would prioritize replacing them or providing something similar.

...aaaand again it took me several minutes to post this b/c words I type correctly like "took" get autocorrected in the interface to "tiik" ... and the word "like" gets autocorrected to "ifft".  No rhyme...no reason.  It took me 3 times the amount of time to post this b/c I'm correcting words I typed correctly from words like "tilk" and "ifft".

Just want to echo what he said. i used to browse the forum for hours aimlessly leaning back with the tv on and just chill. 

Now i can barely read a few threads before i get aggravated. I dont want to say i get a headache from the new platform thats a little extreme., but i did feel "uneasy" reading the forum. i didnt feel like i wanted to stay long. The layout makes it hard for me to keep interest when before i could sit here on a snow day and literally lose track of time.

 

Right now my biggest gripe BY FAR, is how our posts and the user profile are all squeezed into one box. It makes it very hard to read  replies when you have (user profiles) in between.

 

We need go to back to old layout where USER PROFILES are on the left, and REPLIES are on the right, i think the reading experience would improve drastically.  I can almost guarantee this.

and i also believe the forum's choice of font / font size was picked without any careful purpose.  Im no font expert, but i dont think this font was picked for forum readability.

went through this exact change a few years ago on Torontogolfnuts (tgn) -- and the feedback is 100% EXACTLY the same. Many have used this site for years and change is never easy. I hated the switch on that site too. The site is doing this for a reason -- they aren't bringing back the old site or layout. They needed to change platforms as it was unstable and had ability to enhance for the future. Does it suck now -- yes. Will it get better -- yes. TGN lost some key members with the software change. life goes on.

Just posted my first ad and I couldn't post any photos using my ipad (likely because it's not the latest ipad or has older OS on it) which was frustrating. Went to my phone and got it posted. Sold the club this morning and now can't edit the ad, can't delete photos, and can't mark as sold. sucks but the mods will figure it out soon enough.

Great site overall and looking forward to it getting better soon.

@golfunderpar18 Was it similar layout when they migrated? I just checked out their forum and if it is possible to get to that or even better from this software, there's no doubt that this will get better.

2) My specific question, how do you turn the "heat map" location stuff off? I don't need to know and would rather others not know "where I am hanging out."

New issue. I click on the message belll and it pops up behind the current page and you can’t access it . Also noticed the ability to quote you here and reply is gone. So I @ ted you. Lol

@bladehunter, if you go to the home page first (the forum home page, not the webpage with articles on it) you can get to your profile, private messages, etc. Otherwise is hides behind the other stuff.

Funny someone mentioned Toronto Golf Nuts and users being upset when they migrated to a new platform. Just hopped on over there and holy shite its beautiful. Looks like old school WRX but just a little smoother. The grey and green color scheme look great. User names/photos/info on the left, posts on the right. If they can get this looking like TGN, i'm all in.

Can the color be changed to look more like the old... classic... beautiful forum? I ask because even if you don't elect upon that look or an approximation of it. I really thought it was nearly idea in terms of layout etc all. I'd expect that more people would be more comfortable with the forum if it at least looked similar.

 

Far as what's better? Or what y'all may already have in mind concerning lay-out etc all I support that too.

Mods I understand you had to change but the theme design is a complete...disaster and horrid! Come on now who in the world has a plain white background. You at least should have a quoted post a darker colour.

 

Look at this forum and see how they are much nicer in visuals.

If you can copy this theme deisgn it will be a lot better. Look at how the quoted posts are darker grey. Look at the separation in comments/ titles etc with a different colour. I don't care about the quirks (levels, rankings and all those gimmicks) visuals are King. 100% FACT! This is the only reason why I posted here in comparison to other golf forums. Cant see myself ever posting on this eye sore.

Oh yes and Mods and please it will be great to get rid of the 'New' title under each new unread thread. People click on threads based on the title of the thread NOT because it is new. All I see when I log in is :
