Nothing is really wrong with him. He has a 100 million in the bank and 3 majors and a new wife. It will take him a couple of years to get it back...It is when he starts missing the cut at the masters I would worry.

He hasn't won since July 2017. His game basically fell off a cliff in 2018.

So, it's already been 2+ years since he really "had it".

I think he can get hot a few weeks a year and win 1-2 tournaments here and there. But I don't think he'll ever be top 3 in the world again. But we'll see.

Geez. Rich Lerner must have written that headline. I still remember him referring to him as "The Young American Prince" at one of the pre British Open tournaments the year Harry and Meghan got married.

Winning "1 or 2 events a year" would probably put him in the top 3. If he gets those wins he would likely also have at least a handful of other top 10's.

Okay. My language wasn't very clear. But I never said "winning '1 or 2 events a year". I said "here and there". That could be once a year or maybe less. The idea is that it'll be sporadic and not that significant.

And I said "get hot a few weeks a year" implying there might not be a "handful of other top 10's".

I don't know the math exactly. But I meant that I don't think he'll ever get back to where he was, as a multiple major winner and top 1 or top 3 player.

I'm thinking he'll remain more like what Matt Kuchar is today. At best. Great player but not someone you'd name as a superstar or top 5 player. Even with a win in each of the past 3 years, Kuchar is 17th in OWGR.

According to Golf Channel, Spieth has been working on his "timing" over this break. That does not seem like a recipe for success.

I know he made a shaky bogey out of the gate. I saw all of his round from about the 4th hole on and it was a very nice round. With Spieth these days you're always kind of waiting for the shoe to drop but he didn't exhibit any sign of that yesterday, at least the parts that I saw. His putting on the 3-4-5 footers where in the past he's had some trouble looked solid. Just one round but a positive start.

Jordan's swing is much better. Not flipping it around at the moment. If he keeps swinging it better his confidence will grow and he'll get his mojo back. He is still an exceptional talent.

Just pulled up the stats through 2 rounds.

6th in Strokes Gained Off the Tee

10th Strokes Gained Tee to Green

T2 Strokes Gained Total

T4 Driving Accuracy

And, despite a 4 Putt, he's 2nd in Strokes Gained Putting.

Hmmmm, lets see. He's 2 off the lead going to the back 9 and wham! OB right. After that he was toast and finished 10th. He's showing some positives, but just can't get through that final round without shooting himself out of it.

I thought he had a pretty good tournament. Some mistakes, but moving in a positive direction.

Not to rag on the boy, but tee to green Sunday he was 62nd from 68 (or thereabouts).

Despite the shorties, he was 4th in putting.

Rather like Berger, it's as if he never went away.
