Tour issued Callaway Apex Pro 19' "Dot" Iron Pics and differences (comparison Pics added Page 3)

Sorry to blow up the thread, but not sure if I mentioned this but before I had my 900 tours and Iblades for brief period of time I had the Apex Pro '16s. And it took me a bit but I was such a mizzy fan boy I forgot that I made more birides that year with those irons. Anyone know how the non/dot are compared to the '16 pros?

> Different feeling iron than I’m used to, coming from 765’s and recently the 919 Tour (that had the wrong shaft for me), these are soft feeling with a bit more firmness or stability behind the face.

> No real issue on flyers with the exception of 1 170 yard PW down wind but it was probably the best shot I hit all day.

> They’re definitely the straightest irons I’ve ever hit, and now it’s getting comfortable with the new LZ 6.5’s and also different starting lines as my ball would typically draw more with the KBS shafts

How do you compare the dots to the 919 tours? I was fit into a set of the non-dots this weekend. I hit the 919 tours very well but was concerned about forgivness in the longer irons. I hit the non-dots great but am concerned with the lofts and hitting them too far.

I am coming from some r7 TPs that play with a 47* PW. Really looking for similar distances with some increased tech forgivness wise.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Not sure if this is the right thread to ask this but since it is the most active thread on the Callaway Apex I thought I would ask it here.

So I've been gaming the 2019 Combo set and I really like it. However, I really wish the 7 Iron was the Pro. **So, if I bought the 7 Iron Apex Pro (chrome) is there a way to sand or steel wool it down to have a similar satin finish like the combo set?**

Limited to 400 sets as far as i know. TC is for tour custom and TA is for tour authentic.

@joey3108 thank you for the clarification. I have chrome DOTs with a TC serial number. That is the first set of DOTs that I’ve seen with the satin finish, it looks great, where could a guy find those? To summarize, there are at least 3 types of DOTs with serial numbers starting with the following unique identifiers: TC - Tour custom; TA - Tour Authentic (what does that mean exactly?); *_ _* - Retail DOT (do they have an identifier at the beginning of SN# ?).

TC is Tour Certified, not Tour Custom. Not a big deal but just thought I’d throw it out there if we’re talking about it.

How’s the gap between the 7 pro and 8 MB. Do you have the pros bent weak or the MBs bent strong. You going all Callaway this year ?

No gapping issues. Honestly I’m not even sure what the lofts are. My club guy that I have used for years built them and he mentioned he built it the same the prior set of irons he built for me. I would have to check.

Currently Callaway D, 3w, 4-P and putter.

That’s what I’m going to go with. I got fit for the modus 120tx and I can’t be more ready to move away from the c-tapers. What shaft you playing?

As for gapping right now dude I’m right there with you I think my 4 iron is 22 and my PW is 46. I just know what distances each club goes

KBS Tour V 130.... I played these a few years ago and then moved onto Modus 130. I forgot how good the Tour V is for me. I have wanted to try the Modus 120TX but have not gotten my hands on a test club.

I have a set of uncut Tour V 125's that might go in my dot's if I don't like the Project X LZ's. Unfortunately, I have been dealing with a wrist / hand injury and haven't even had the chance to swing the dot's yet. It's killing me not being able to hit these.

Last question. Do you think there is a loss of feel going from the MBs to the pros (non-dot) or difference in turn interaction?

Yes of course their is a loss of feel, one is a blade and the other is a multi piece head. I do think the pro's have enough feel, if you are a good ball striker you can hit any shot you want with the Pro's. Same thing with turf interaction, one has a thicker sole then the other so yes they slide through the ground differently. The MB's feel incredibly good and have a great ball flight. The Pro's feel very good, have a bigger shape and appearance, still very playable and give you more confidence. They are a great set to combo.

So, it looks like the satin ones aren’t on the Callaway website. We’re the ones in the pics here earlier a special one off, or tour only?

Do you know if the Satin finish Dots are going to be released? Or are these very limited Tour only? They are sick btw.
