The Ptx was introduced when TK was head of the company although I am not sure if his hands were on the design of those clubs. The current Edge irons came out with the new version of the company.

Reminds me of the Hopkins Golf Co. that made the semi-custom wedges for a few years. Offered money-back if you weren't satisfied. Interesting Hopkins partnership with UPS: orders came into a shop at a UPS depot, and the wedges were assembled and shipped within 24 hours.

Hopkins then started listing golf shops which were partners. I visited one local shop, and manager said Hopkins never really followed up with product after initial introduction. A friend of mine had a golf-savvy son who was a Hopkins demo day rep, but his sales never really took off. Seems like Hopkins "faded away" in 2017. Anybody know for sure?

Back to Hogan: The demo irons are a good option to smooth the "direct to customer" uncertainty. Bridgestone has done a similar thing in the past.

At a 2016 golf expo, I got some quality time with the Hogan demo crew. The PTx flew better for me than the Ft. Worth 15 model. Fast forward to this fall: I tried a used set of the PTx irons with KBS Tour 90 R-flex shafts. I hit 5i and 7i, but couldn't get consistent feel. The KBS Tour 90 shafts worked much better in the TE CB Pro Tungsten irons I decided to get.

So, the demo irons can help you narrow the field of options, but a direct fitting would work best. That said, if you live in the Dallas/FtW area, you could probably arrange a fitting at the Hogan assembly plant.

I have the Edge and Ptx irons. My take is that they are easy to hit and consistent in terms of accuracy, trajectory and distance control. The sole design is excellent in getting the head through the turf. The Edge set provides more forgiveness as expected. I don't think either set is a standout for distance. If you want extra yards, look elsewhere. If you want consistent yardages, the Ptx and Edge are both excellent choices.

The prices are excellent and a good value given the quality and performance of the product. The cons are the limited options for a refined fitting and I suspect, a low resale value. If you know your swing and specs, you can order a really good set of irons from the new Hogan. Keep in mind that you will need to be your own fitting cart and it's a good idea to experiment with the demo plan to find what's right for you.

I am all in on Hogan right now. I bought the Ft Worth White and replaced the 4 iron with a Ft Worth Hi 22 degree. They are some of the prettiest clubs I have owned, but are also surprisingly playable for a near blade. What I really like about them is that they are fair and predictable. If I miss a little, I’ll lose a little distance vs my old Mizuno 900 forged, but that tends to make me focus a little more when playing. I have the TK wedges and they are awesome as well!

Not me. And maybe I'm wrong but I just see the big name manufacturers pulling away from the field at this point. With so much R&D and exotic multi material construction, the little guy just can't compete anyway. Sure a forged blade is still pretty much a forged blade (same for wedges), but anything else where the technology is important it's pretty much down a few big boys
