Agreed. I'd take the whole line too; the Mizuno Pro drivers look great IMHO.

I absolutely love my MP-5 irons, well, worth the 6 months it took for me took me to transition from the MP-68s. I’m snagging 1 or 2 backup sets as I see them with B heads online, but these prototypes have my interest...

Brief breakdown of the Japanese:

These were seen at the Token Homemate tournament on the 16th. Taichi Teshima used these irons to win an even on the Japan senior tour the week before. He said they were easy to control, but also reasonably forgiving, and that they were like a re-issue of the TN-87s (Japanese is vague here, but comparison seems to have been made to the TN-87).

The other pro, Toshinori Muto, made no comparison to the TN-87s, but he's only been with Mizuno for a few year, compared to Teshima who's been with them for a couple of decades. Muto liked the fact he could get enough spin on them to stop the ball on the greens (in other words, good control again). He said it feels like you can hit the ball the way you see it.

There's no MB like this appearing yet on the R&A's conforming list, and the pros said they can't talk about it.

That's a down and dirty summary late at night.

They have an odd shape right at the hosel to head transition to me. lots of offset. I know I am being nitpicky bit that is what I see. Also, mizuno seems to like (maybe because that is how they like it in Japan) a very rounded shape. I prefer something more straight and square.

Someone recently commented on one of Mizuno's IG photos about a lefty blade and they said "just wait we might have something for you this fall". I will be ecstatic if true.

I wasn't a fan of the SC's and Forged were pretty good but wasn't quite enough to get me to buy. The 760's were coming out shortly and I wanted to wait for those. Same with Z785.

>

> I was NOT a fan at all of MP-25. I was going in thinking I'd get MP-54 levels of softness and feel with increased forgiveness, but to be honest the 25's were the worst Mizzy irons I've probably ever hit. Not to bash a great company but for me they were total stinkers. I understand why some companies leave the lefty offerings out for more of the high-end player's stuff, but it just means I have no choice but to give my money to companies like Taylormade or Callaway when in reality I'd probably support Mizuno or other smaller OEM's first.

>

> Hopefully whatever new MP line they bring out isn't like the MP-25. Personally, other than 53/54 or older, the MP line has always lagged a bit behind JPX.

Yea share the same dissatisfaction for lack of LH irons, however, none of the new iron heads have come better than epon 302, or the pxg 0311t, so kinda happy to save some money tbh.

With you on the hosel to head transition. Much prefer the look of my MP5s.

Yeah, I’ve read and heard the Cobras are pretty unforgiving. So a head scratcher there. I snagged the MP 18 MMC’s on sale, as did my cousin. Fitted for new irons in our specs for under a grand, tough to beat that.

Way more forgiving than the MP 18's IMO.

Is that the malby scores? That thing is soo confusing. You need the Da Vinci code to understand it.

Yes and you’re absolutely correct, haha. The key points I agree with are the MOI scores and the vertical center of gravity. Overall score is iffy but moi and vcog are for me.
