I am under no false impressions of how far I hit it, and not thinking I am a 290 carry guy, but I do know from recent fittings with trackman indoors and a trackman session outdoors that my carry is around 260 plus or minus on each of those other machines, while Mevo is giving 250 plus or minus 5.

I will save that sarcasm for later. Put it in a can and store it up. Good sarcasm , stay in there boy.

And yeah I read a Competitor Site review of the Mevo and was not impressed. You very well could be right . Hit the ball at the 250 yard sign and see where it lands.

Keep in mind, you're comparing output from a $500 unit with a $10,000 unit from a different company with different algorithms. More important, you're doing it using a club that is going to produce more variability across measurements and extrapolations just due to its clubhead speed and the resulting ball speed and spin it imparts. Frankly, a perceived variance of 10-15 yards on driver for someone in the 105-110 CHS range would pass my smell test.

The measured variables "are what they are." The best way to optimize them will likely be for you to contact Flightscope for "tips and tricks" on using MEVO with driver. Otherwise, if you feel the unit is under-estimating your carry and you just have to have carry distance as close as what you normally achieve on the course, tweak the altitude settings.

I like that idea. I will play with the altitude settings when hitting driver.

I have a Mevo and a Flightscope X2. I haven't actually ever taken the X2 to the range to do a head to head against the Mevo, but will definitely try to in the next week or so and post some results.

I think its awesome that there are some affordable launch monitors on the market! I'm not sure if Mevo/SC300 would suit me long term though...dialing in gaps and testing equipment it would be great! Just not sure how much I would use it otherwise once I have my bag figured out?

Overestimate compared to the standard FS unit or other monitors?

I wouldn’t put a ton of stock in mixing numbers between different companies. It’s pretty well known that the different companies choose to measure where they think is best, and they don’t seem to agree on where exactly that is, so you are going to see different numbers. Doesn’t mean any of them over/underestimate numbers, or any of them are wrong...they just have their own opinions on what is correct.

imean TM4 and FS X3 for example will give the same cHS and ball speed within -+ 1MPH.

I'm sure that if we compare the mevo against the X3, we will still see 3-5 mph difference in club head speed. Need to wait for the GWRxer (the one that owns both the mevo and another FS unit) to make the comparison

  • 1 month later...

I just bought a Mevo to experiment with. I've hit about 100 balls with it so far (all in one session). Unfortunately, I was hitting the ball like s***, so it is difficult to gauge the accuracy of all the output. The only output that I feel comfortable using at this point is the distance, which, from a tracking perspective, wouldn't be negatively affected by my fat shots.

I have found that the carry distance numbers from the Mevo are about as accurate as one could hope for. Of the shots that I was able to laser after hitting them, every single one was within 2 yards of what the Mevo measured. This surprised me, especially because I'm not sure that the Mevo actually measures the entire flight of the ball, but instead calculates it. I believe this to be the case because the Mevo verbally told me the distance of several shots before the balls landed. For example, on pretty much all my drives (which stayed in the air for several seconds), I would hear the unit say "260 yards" before the ball actually hit the ground. Regardless, however, of how the Mevo actually measures carry distance, it was incredibly accurate for me for all clubs.

I planning on using it again later this afternoon (weather permitting), and assuming I hit the ball better, I will get a feel for how accurate the other measurements are.

  • 3 weeks later...

I am getting a little higher SS number than I'd expect.

But I am comparing to my fitting at club champion about 6 months ago, and I have made some swing changes. I also believe that I swing harder outside, on the course, and when no one is watching me (like during a fitting) so who knows?  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ xchm90rr4q5g.png

Nevertheless, I'll probably try to compare against a trackman soon. Definitely a fun toy and makes going to range more fun (I hate the range).
