Bucket list Ireland trip just booked

Hey gents. Just booked this trip with 8 guys from my club (4 seasons Dallas) and headed to Ireland.

 

Courses we are playing are as follows and would love to hear your thoughts, experiences and advice on what to do, not do.

 

Old head

Royal county down

Island golf club

European club

Portmaranock golf club

County Louth gc

Portstewart gc

 

Then finish it off with going to the British open Saturday and Sunday.

 

Can’t wait.

Great list! Be sure to take your camera to Old Head.

Hope you can take a full day and night at Old Head. Amazing views and sitting out on the deck at night looking over th ocean is amazing. Plus they have a putting green up there, so that’s cool

I wish you good luck with Old Head. The fog was so bad for about 15 of our holes that we couldn't see 150 yards in front of us. It was a real bummer. RCD is great. Portstewart front 9 so underrated and great. That's all I have played on your list.

Have played RCD and Old Head on two separate trips. Old Head has the best views in golf. RCD is an amazing day of golf. 9th hole is truly special.

We are going in 2 days early just so we can spend extra time at OH.

Heading to Ireland in June and have Island, European, RCD, Lahinch, Ballybunion, Trump Doonbeg. Can’t hit them all but will keep me coming back. Missing a couple on your list and you guys will have a great time. Couple questions:

 

Is that the sequence of courses may I ask? You have a tour bus? Any 36 hole days?

Yea we went through Carr golf. Have a large bus and a driver for the entire trip.

 

We are taking a day off halfway through then of course get to do the Open the last 2 days to round out the trip.

The tour bus is a very nice move. Driving there is scary and it allows you to relax and hang out with your guys after the rounds.

Just got back from Ireland yesterday.

Of the courses on your list, we played Old Head. We played one day in the heavy fog and one day in beautiful sunshine. It's probably the most unique golf setting you'll ever play and can be very intimidating visually. That said, it's actually very playable. Have a blast.

@JaketheJack Solid line-up ! I've played all courses but one (The Island), you'll love your trip ! Old Head is such an amazing setting ! If you have time to add a quick round while being in RCD, don't hesitate to go to Ardglass, a true little gem. Some blend inland holes, but coastline holes are just amazing !

After your round at County Down go for the best smoked fish chowder around ( plus plenty of other good food, drinks, etc. ) at Great Jones Craft & Kitchen down the road from the course.
