Any Success Stories Using Shawn Clement Instruction

Recommended Posts

Some of his content has helped me in my swing journey. Most notably are how strong to hold the club and how to adjust your body to swinging with a strong grip. I have not gone out and thrown clubs to a target, so not sure on how that works out. But keeping my head behind the ball has helped me stop coming ott, one day maybe I will be able to swing like a pro, and I can move the entire body forward then kick back my upper half, but until then I am getting along with presetting that secondary tilt and holding it through impact.

> Cost was $60. He thought my swing was decent to begin with. He said I need to keep my eyes and head still on the backswing and focus on hitting shots to the target. Pick a flight plan with an intermediate target and ball flight trajectory. This was so much more simplified than what I was doing which was focusing on hand club and body positions. When I do it Shawn’s way and do it right, good things happen. I highly recommend a 30 minute FaceTime lesson!

Awesome! That echoes exactly what I have been working on. The head still is so hard to accomplish, but it helps a ton to keep everything on plane.

The head moves in the swing.

It ain’t the head. The head goes where the body takes it. If your head is moving excessively then you have a pivot issue not a head issue. Head movement is the effect not the cause. Telling someone to keep their head still is not helpful. Need to tell them the reason for excessive head movement. Seen people make things worse by trying to just keep the head still.

If you control the head (which is the easiest part of the body to tell if it is moving too excessively, because the eyes are located there) then you can also control excessive movements of the other areas. So in effect controlling the head, controls the rest of the body’s planes.

Watch this: (2:00-4:30)

To my point , He talks entirely about the pivot never mentions the head.

Because his head never moves excessively, it’s all getting to the same point whichever way you approach it

You don’t understand cause and effect.

Lack of excessive head movement does not mean a good pivot was made.

Been watching his videos for 5 years, and implementing a lot of swing changes that have improved my ball flight and distance. Like his teaching style.

Some people like it. It's not the regular type getting all technical. Makes me want to get a weed cutter. It's good to watch when you have gotten too technical and bogged down, which I have done. It's almost like I'm so determined to do certain things that I forgot the most important is still the swing.

I looked up this thread after seeing his latest vid on the front page.

He seems like a nice guy, but I have a problem with his use of the grass whip and his lack of giving credit to Bobby Shave, who introduced his Melhorn grass whip, what, 9 or 10 years ago now. It looks like Clement has kind of ripped him off, and I hate to see that considering Mr Shave is one of the nicer older gentlemen I've ever talked to. Is there something I'm missing here on this front?

Love SC's style of teaching. You will love it or hate it to be honest. He relates everything to athletic or everyday movements instead of position 1, 2, 3, 12,15. I have only been using his online academy for a little over 2 months now and have made leaps and bounds in my game. He answers questions and gives swing analysis within 1-2 days (for 10$ a month that's service). Overall it has been worth every penny. His premium videos build off each other and i can;t stop watching them. Totally recommend.

Shawn Clement's philosophy on the golf swing has many similarities to Manual de la Torre -- which focuses on swing the golf club first and foremost, without worrying about body positions. The perspective has helped my golf game, as I tend to get too analytical and my head gets crowded by "swing thoughts/positions."

His teaching style doesn't resonate with me. Not a knock on him, seems like a good and knowledgeable guy. Everbody responds to different things. His swing is just very natural and upright and whoopsy daisy. Swing it up, swing it down. I get what he is doing trying to simplify things, but to me it comes across as Greg Maddux telling me how to throw a 90 mph over the middle of the plate. Just reach back and release it through. Just like this, watch me and repeat.

radically changed my view of the golf swing. not met the guy..nor had online lessons. I don't even subscribe to his stuff, just his material on the open web.... he helps to understand the body motions and why..and he is quite repetitive in his teaching..meaning his principles are repeated across different videos, which i like. He's good!
