New Wilson Staff Duo Professional

I have been using the Duo Softs recently and I am really enjoying the soft feel in the colder morning temps here in Ohio. I am thinking though once it gets warmer the ultra low compression is going to start hurting distance. I have around a 110 SS for my driver and around 90 for my 6 iron. I am looking at trying the Professional for the summer but I would like to know from people that swing around the same speeds how they feel and work for you.

At your swing speed, you aren't going to loose that much from over compressing the ball. You really start to see differences once you get over 110MPH and only with a driver and fairway woods.

The bigger difference is that the Duo Professional is a 3 piece urethane covered ball. It's designed to spin more off irons and wedges. It's going to launch lower with more spin, so you're going to see LESS distance off the irons and wedges.

Finally a price drop. Always felt this was a decent ball, just a bit too high on the price point. A little soft though.

Found this one to be shorter off of all clubs for me. Big fan of the Duo, but not this version.

A $5 reduction from $35 to $30 (14% savings) isn't a game changer.

True. Also, Wilson Duo Pro will only appeal to people who like soft urethane balls.

Agreed.  I think most consumers in that budget mid compression urethane market that are strictly sticking to EOM brands are going to choose the Srixon Q Star Tour, and TM Tour Response over this even at $30/dozen.  I think they would do better marketing this one in bulk savings like 2 dz/ $49.99 much like Dicks/GG do with the Maxfli tour balls because the reality is most consumers perceive their balls to be more on par with house brands than they do the Srixons, TMs, and Titleists of the world, fair or unfair.

Wilson is more respected overseas but I agree overall that their price is too high for the US Market.  Srixon, TM, Titleist and Callaway all offer more popular options and then throw in Snell and Vice there is no real motivation to spend $30 / dozen on Wilson golf balls.
