Ping's new G410 LST driver

Recommended Posts

Was able to demo the head yesterday on a launch monitor. Initial thoughts was that it looked great! Felt lighter than the G400 lst and felt hot off the face. Compared to the G400, I would say it didn't feel quite as solid but sounded better especially on centered hits. I tested the head with the Tensei Orange 60x and the stock tour shaft in 65x.

I love my G400 shafted in a AD-DI because I can hit low spin and high launching bombs. Baseline numbers are as follows: 114 ss, 13-14 launch, 278 average carry, 2200-2400 average spin. With the 410 lst, it spun like crazy on me. Even on my best strikes, spin was in the upper 2700s rpms. Average spin was about 3100 rpms. Surprisingly, these strikes were with the Tensei Orange 60x. With the Tour shaft, spin was slightly worse. So now I was thinking that I just sucked that day so I took a Epic Flash SZ with a AD IZ and took a few swings. Immediately, numbers hovered around my baseline. I went back to the 410 lst and the spin jumped up again.

All that being said, I still love the feel of the 410 lst and looking forward to trying it in a shaft that fits my swing better. I was surprised, however, that it spun as much as it did. Although the shaft possibly made the difference, it was a bit discouraging to see the 410 lst spin so high.

So make sure on the loft. PING has a wide variation or deviation on tolerance of loft. I never order a driver from them without requesting digital lofting at a lower then stated loft on the head. Your current LST may have lower loft=less spin then the 410 LST you tested.

Do you know if you can have a specific face angle requested. I want to get one with a more square face. Also i previously ordered a ping driver with digital loft of 9 degrees and they just moved the adapter to a lower setting. I want it lofted and square faced in neutral. Is that possible?

They did the same thing to me. When you make the digital loft request apparently you need to specify that you want it at that loft in the NEUTRAL setting. I think you can also request a square, closed or open face angle based on manufacturing tolerances and theyll do the best they can.

Those numbers sound great to me. What ball speeds were you getting?

CH Speed 110-112 Ball Speed 160-165

I played yesterday in a 25-30 mph wind and the thing felt a little spinny. I think I am going to take the loft down from 10.5 to 9.5. WIll this help? I don't want to spend more $ to buy another driver 3 weeks after I puchased this one, you know?

Loft has the greatest influence on spin, so that should help to reduce it. I would give it a try, but also don't judge the club's performance based off of one round in high winds. We all tend to swing a little goofy in high winds plus it exaggerates our misses. 12 degree launch and 2400 spin is practically ideal at the ball speeds you're generating.

I can tell you 100% that in January they sent me a G Max driver that I requested digitally lofted to 9 degrees. They sent it set in the large minus hosel configuration.

I ended up giving that one to my daughter and ordered the next specifying 9 degrees in the neutral setting. My pro called me and said they were having trouble finding one at 9, so as said please as close as possible in the neutral setting. It was better 9.2 loft on the ticket

love that they can do digital loft.

Did this with my G25 7w back in the day. Wanted 20* and not 21*. Came in perfect

I don't see how the 410LST can be better than my current gamer but will try it

ALso most of the low lofted Gmaxes are kept aside for the tour players. I know for a fact they have 7.5 and 8* heads (not marked but true loft). Its disappointing that ping didn't offer an 8.5* head in the Max

Took the LST out on the course for 18 holes this morning. Averaged 299 yards, missed 2 fairways, and shot 65. I think it has found a spot in the bag for a while.

It actually made me question putting the Blueprints in the bag when they get here on Tuesday. Don't wanna mess up the mojo.

When the current clubs know they're in the hot seat, they always produce.

14 Pings. Blueprints are incredibly good. Fetch is the most underrated putter on the market. Don't @ me.

They're not on the hot seat as of now, especially after today. 15/18 greens, hit every green on the front and made 9 pars. The putter acted right after a missed 3 footer for birdie on 9.

The driver is crazy good though.
