> Any difference structurally in the F9 driver between different lofts? or is 9* head same as 10.5*?

The heads are similar in structure but different in weighting and other specs. We designed the 9.0 head to be a spin killer, so we positioned internal weighting low and forward. In testing, the 9.0* spins on average 400 rpm less than the F8+. The 10.5 head has the weight positioned low and back to promote higher launch with optimized spin.

Thanks to CNC milling, we are able to design the bulge and roll curvatures differently between the lofts to account for different swing speeds and attack angles. The 9.0 head has less loft on the bottom half of the face to reduce spin on low shots, while the 10.5 head has slightly more loft on the bottom half of the face to promote higher launch.

The 9.0 head also has a slightly flatter lie angle compared to the 10.5 head. - TO

Yes MIM is a great newer technology for golf, and the industry has been using MIM for tungsten weights for many years. With the KING MIM wedge it's the first in the industry for clubs heads and robotic polishing in the way for the future. So we do expect it to apply to other types of products moving forward. - TO

> With the different personalities among Tour staff on Cobra Golf's roster, have there been any cool ideas that they contributed in terms of marketing the different innovations in the products? For instance, actors have contributed ideas to scripts or ad-libbed lines into the final product, anything similar with the Tour staff? Rickie, Bryson, and Lexi seem like they would have interesting ideas

Yes, we work super closely with our Tour pro's for innovation and marketing ideas. With Rickie, we focus a lot on the overall look and sound of the product when he sees initial prototypes. With the F9 driver, Rickie had some great input for the overall cosmetics of the driver. With Bryson our R&D team dialed in his ONE Length irons and commercialized it for the masses...no small feat :) We have been working closely with Lexi in developing some new prototype irons too. From a marketing standpoint, our players are always giving us great new ideas...especially for social. - LE

Any chance of offering power spec/retro spec lofts in future iron sets, or a more forgiving blended set than the King Forged CB/MB? I love my current set of the King Forged CBs and added in a Forged Tec Black 4i, with lofts on the 4 and 5 tweaked, but it seems like a bit of a gap in offerings when you look at how the competitive landscape has evolved even in the last two years since the Forged Tec Blacks were released.

Then again, maybe just a set of DBM Forged Tours would fit that bill! Keep doing what you're doing! The CBs are the best feeling irons I've ever played.

Let's see, we have made them in most of our lineup, F7, F8, F9 (GI), F Max (SGI, last years model), Forged Tec Black, and Forged Tour (07) of which Bryson still plays the 6-P. For long clubs, also in F8/F9 hybrids and King Utility Irons (Bryson plays in #4 and #5). For now that is a pretty good lineup, don't you think?

Need a more specific question as we've had tons of successful models in metals and irons. We love our current lineup as well, and we work every day to make the next ones even better.

From the entire crew... thank you! I can tell you the people at Cobra PUMA Golf really love what they do and really, really care about making the best stuff possible for golfers.

As for F9 driver improvements... it is funny, we even wonder if improvements can be made when we make a great club. Truth is, the design engineers have a hard time "putting their pencils down" and could have thrown a few more improvements in the design. At the same time an innovation engineer is sitting 50 feet away working on a club head platform with new materials and/or new constructions that take all the good stuff from F9 to a new level. And that cycle continues... we have great jobs.

There are a few other Qs and As on putters... I will defer to those. - MY

Oh my... I randomly jumped into the thread at your post. As an ISU grad I am looking forward to continue battles with the Team Out East. Go Clones!

And... The Long Tom with a lower CG and better Aero would be a freaking killer! TO's recommendation of making a light F9 will be dang close!

Depending where you are in Jersey, go see Kirk Oguri, 2016 MET PGA Teacher of the year- Professional/Club Specialist-@petesgolfshopny Golf Digest Top in NY. You can also check out our demo day locator for fitting options in your area: https://www.cobragolf.com/dealer-locator?filter=demo_days

> It seems like most clubs are extensions and evolutions of prior models, but the F9 took a new approach and direction. How long does the initial design-to-production process take when rolling out new, and hopefully revolutionary, products?

It depends on the innovation. The milled face took almost 3 years from concept to product.

The F9 design, good aero + good mass properties, was 8+ years in the making. We knew rounded leading edges and a raised trailing edge was great for aero during our work with Ferrari in 2011, but that shape would not yield good mass properties. Over the last 2 years we figured out how to combine the aero streamlining and low CG & high MOI. There were some pretty "interesting" concepts and prototypes along the way! - MY

>

"You're correct, they do approach the game in different ways. That being said, they both have similar needs in the driver dept. So getting a design that both of them could implement right away was easy.

Our entire tour staff is involved in product creation so we get their feedback early and often. Head shaping and the SPEEDBACK design did not change much from early prototypes, but the crown design, cosmetics, and alignment aids all changed throughout the process due to their feedback."

I was wondering if there was a product that as a company kind of put Cobra on the map ETC. This years offerings are great, and I see regularly compete with anything that is out there.

We are very focused on what we are doing to bring innovation to the market so it is always better than spreading ourselves too thin. This strategy has helped us to grow and we expect to continue those efforts. For those who haven't been in our line of work, it takes much time, energy and money to establish other categories; not only in creating, but also in supplying, marketing, selling and servicing these additional categories - especailly in the case of golf balls, a different business model in a myriad of ways. So for now we are maintaining our focus of bringing great innovation and performance to full swing clubs.

As a generalization, most amateurs would benefit from a shorter and heavier shaft in the driver, but it isn't really s.exy to market reliability. We see that distance is what sells. So how do you go about this process?

The data has helped with set composition and gapping. Here is one huge nugget: Almost all (i.e. 95%+) of players have at least one potential club gapping issue in their bags. 60% have two or more!

The recent addition of club brand and model to the player data base will greatly improve the quality of the data, analysis and insights. Stay tuned.

In the mean time... Use the system, gain the insights, play smarter and shoot lower scores! - MY

Yes the CNC milled face sets Cobra apart as it allows us to precisely control face thickness without having to hand polish heads. As far as improvements, you'll have to wait and see! - TB

> I have a few friends who are willing and able driver off the deck players. I find it interesting that they all play cobra drivers. Do you design your drivers with this use in mind at all?

While we don't specifically design with off the deck shots in mind, we DO try to design drivers with very low CG positions. We were early leaders in low CG, high MOI designs, which produce higher launch and low spin rates WITH forgiveness. Those same attributes also make hitting a driver off the deck easier, because the low CG helps with initial launch. So while not specifically a design goal, that makes perfect sense!

For the F9 driver, you are correct, slight variations in weighting, lie angle and dual roll radii. - TO

MIM wedges: What grinds and finishes would you like to see? - RR

The King Forged Tour iron is still available for this need - TO
