You might be right however, its all about ones perspective. Mizuno is a quality product at a decent price. They have been engineering some of the worlds best irons for years and in a way, humble about it too. PXG, over priced, ugly and loud IMO. The only thing I can get behind is PXG's support of our military. So PXG is releasing a new "cast" iron at a more affordable cost? To me that seems more about getting a brand in the bag vs producing a quality product. Granted the new iron could be of great quality, but most people are after forged feel vs cast iron.

**Construction is the same (Mostly)**

We’ll get to what surely qualifies as a significant difference in a bit, but there are inarguable similarities in the construction. The 0211 features **the same face material (HT1770 maraging steel) as the 0311 GEN2**, which works in conjunction with PXG’s more responsive second generation COR2 polymer material – the goo filling that allows for the thinnest iron face on the market – to preserve ball speed across the whole of the face.

Like the 0311 GEN2, it offers an internal face perimeter cut-out. It’s a design which leverages an undercut cavity and moves the weld lines between the two pieces to the outer perimeter of the club (as opposed to on the face itself). It’s a forgiveness-boosting feature that makes for an effectively larger face without increasing the size of the clubhead.

> Just out of curiosity for all current PXG iron players.. Do you think this will dilute the Gen 2 P/T etc, irons. Does it push or pull you one way or the other? Not necessarily in buying them but just not having that same feeling with a lower end price point iron out there. I also assume it's no different if you have the fully loaded Mustang vs base model..

> Interesting move!

It's the same as Mercedes selling a $30,000 A-Class. Just because there's an entry level version available doesn't mean the guy driving an S-Class doesn't feel special. It's a common marketing practice. Get people into the brand cheap and keep them in the hope that they'll drop lots of coin as the years progress. For many, gaming PXGs comes down to performance and that won't change either.

There was an up charge on the black P790’s. And, while Titleist up charged only $2.50 per iron on the AP3’s, I guess that still qualifies ha.

Well if youre looking at a cast body compared to forged and its the same exact maraging steel face and COR2 in a hollow body head will it really feel that much different. Smart move on PXGs part most golfers unless theyre WRXers arent going to know or tell diff between the Gen2 and 0211. With them being strong lofted as well great option to put the Elevate shafts as stock. However most shafts are $25 upcharge and graphite is $40 a club. So not all that cheap be looking at $210 a club with any shaft other than Elevate in steel. At that pricepoint if they want to appeal to masses prob wouldnt do a shaft upcharge.

Aren't standard AP2's $1299.99 4-PW and black $1499.99 4-PW?

For my taste, aesthetically this is their best effort yet. The screw weighting on Gen's 1 and 2 despite their utility made the irons look a little busy for my liking. This new one is clean and a nice design effort, IMO.

I was going off their website. AP3 $185/club, AP3 Black $187.50/club. Also, their website for AP3 blacks says 1499.99 for a set of 8. Street price may be a different story though.....

That's got to be one of the understatements of the year!!! Really doesn't matter what "other brand" either. Those 3 letters PXG always bring them out.

I think these look pretty sharp and the specs are such that potentially these would be something that I might actually consider in the future based on a more reasonable price. I do wonder about the motivation for this since their M.O. seemed to be super expensive clubs. They're still more expensive then most though. I think they look better than their other irons by far.
