I just found out that United flys direct to Eugene now which makes it much easier. I am going to go this winter. I take a trip every Super Bowl weekend, last few years have been Southern California, and Streamsong twice. So obviously I usually go somewhere warm. I get that I won't get that this year.

> > > >

> > > > Have you tried to book yet? Trying to get Feb '20 in Sept '19... I'm not liking your chances, even as a single. Feb books a year out now, it is seen by many as the 'best' winter month, due to the extra sunlight making 36 holes a lot easier.

> > But yes over the past few years, winter - specifically Feb. - has gotten very popular. As a single I was able to nab a few long weekend trips with only 4-6 weeks notice. But that was say 2013/14? That's not possible now.

> >

> > I actually just rang up this morning about 3 nights in April '20 for a twosome and the only accoms available was the Grove suites, which are for groups, so at $1600/night ya not so much.

>

> Ha, auto correct, kidding*. I actually just called them and was able to book 3 nights in Feb for a double room. But very limited availability. I didn't book while on the phone just now as I have to confirm with my buddy. But there are a few rooms at the lower level available and tee times on each course each day, but limited.

Good stuff! :-)

Sounds like you're all sorted!

I really suspect that Sheep Ranch's opening has put the brakes on some early 2020 reservations. People are holding off till later in the year. February 2021 will be back in high demand.

I'm still keeping the hope alive for some preview holes during our mid-March trip. A lot can happen between now and March, depending on the weather.

If not, then maybe the week will be quiet. I am already pining for the days when you could go mid-week and there wouldn't be scads of people there.

Just booked an April trip (it's weird not worrying about daylight) and was informed SR is a go from June 1st.

Just got that nice reservation confirmation email and I see they've added this to the template since the last time I booked:

"If you have booked a Pace Setter Tee Time(s) (first hour-and-a-half tee times of each day), the expected pace-of-play is 4:00 hours or directly behind the group in front of you. If you or members of your party are unable to meet this standard, we will be happy to find a tee time more appropriate for your desired pace."

I like that they are codifying this. Most people are clued up, but we've been out there a few times and thought some groups could have used a foot up the backside.

Even if the extra day at the resort doesn't work out just get a local room somewhere in town, probably cheaper. As a single they'll probably still find tee times for you somewhere.

Just got back from our trip...man! what a place this resort is, best golf resort i've ever been to by far. Was lucky enough to play the Sheep Ranch 9 hole preview and it was amazing....granted the greens are shaggy and nothing like the rest of the courses but the potential is 100% there. What a beautiful place this was, will definitely look to go back at some point!

My feet are so tired from playing 36+ everyday but i still thoroughly enjoyed every second of it. We were also absolutely blessed, zero rain and very little wind ~15-18*C so about 59-64 and sunny for all 5 days that we were there. Simply Gorgeous! caddies and staff were saying that we completely lucked out as it's rare for there to be 2-3 days consecutively like that and we had 5.5 days like that, didn't use rain gear at all

Hopefully they'll spread the load and make it available to more people. Maybe toss in a bonus round the following day on the course you missed. Who knows?!

In a word, no.

Bandon is a very small Oregon coast town, located far away from a city of any size. Expect (lack of) amenities accordingly.

There is a brew pub in town, which is decent, and a couple townie bars, but nothing worth writing home about. There is a small casino in Coos Bay (20 min drive). There is spectacular beach walking, but that's about it for activities other than golf. That's part of the draw of the resort. Don't know about delivery options to the Grove cottages, but I would imagine so. Bandon town is a 5-10 minute drive from the resort.

I concur. I'd probably make the rounds at each of the main restaurants (check menus online), before heading to town.

That being said, depending on how long your trip is, there are definitely restaurants that have character and solid food, which may be a nice way to break up your trip. Edgewaters was a good experience, and we all left pleased that we'd given it a go.

If you want to eat in town, Edgewaters is definitely the place; best views & food you’ll find off the resort. Not sure, but I don’t think any of the pizza joints deliver.

Alloro is one of the better restaurants on the coast. Plus the brew pub; there is also the fish market and the crab shack which have always been good when I go. Lord Bennetts and the Loft are good restaurants as well.

Welp, I went two weeks ago on my wife's work trip and I just booked next weekend with a buddy because the weather looks decent (obviously can flip in 24 hours). Couldn't stay away.

Excited to go 2 times in the span of three weeks...spoiled living in Oregon for sure and within driving distance.

Let me know if anyone else will be there, we are a two-some on Saturday for Old Mac at 750AM and Bandon Dunes at 100PM. Pacific on Sunday at 940AM but a buddy and his friend are coming down.

We will be there for seven nights, so will look at a few in town spots. Maybe eat half the time at the resort and the rest in town. I like to sample the local offerings.

Think I'll be an hour or so ahead of you on Pacific Sunday.
