Lord that is sharp...

Man I love it...quality is incredible and surprised at how lightweight it is. Plenty of room in the pockets also. All the course options Mac did made it really difficult to decide on one, but loved the colorway for Trails.

Worth the $ and six week lead time, for sure.

Did you buy at Bandon or order online?

Do they sell them in the pro shop without intials? IF I remember correctly they do.. but forgot..

I believe they came out with the waxed canvas bags within the past few months; they've had different variations available before, but not sure if they're in the pro shops. I definitely do not remember seeing them back in October. Waxed canvas is where it's at!

I tried searching but that function isn't too great.

Are there any good dinner recommendations outside of the resort? Either in Bandon or Coos Bay, with maybe a sunset Pacific view as the cherry on top? Just looking for a good spot to grab dinner on the way from PDX to Bandon. Thanks!

In Bandon:

Edgewaters - nice view and atmosphere, pretty good food

Tony's Crab Shack - funky decor, right on the bay, fantastic seafood

Alloro: no views, excellent food

In Coos Bay:

Shark Bite Cafe - no view, excellent seafood, especially the fish tacos

Not much else to speak of until you get to Florence:

Bridgewater: peeks of the bay/bridge, great seafood

If you want fine dining with a sunset view of the Pacific, your only real option (and it’s a very good one) is Lord Bennett’s in Bandon.  The places others have mentioned are all nice, but they either have no view or are on the bay with no view of the ocean. Lord Bennett’s overlooks one of the most spectacular beaches on the west coast.

Yes.  Garmin worked perfectly fine, and from what I could tell, my caddie appreciated that I could think about my shot before he arrived at my ball and that he could he could occasionally confirm the ballpark of the number he was getting.  I also appreciated that I could always quickly get the number to the front without having to ask.

Mine worked great. I used my GPS for yardages to F/M/B and hazards, yardage book to get a lay of the land, and then my laser if I was feeling real frisky. (Don't worry, all that happens REAL quick. I'd say the yardage book took me the most time, just to figure out where I was in the book. 🤣)

Top tip. Make sure your yardage guide matches the course you're playing.

That is key 😉

Curioius what everyone does at resort to pay the caddies.  I dont really want to bring $1300 cash to the resort for obvious reasons.  I thought I heard about caddie cash that you can get attached to credit card??????  Can anyone provide the best option for paying caddies if ya dont want to have a bunch of cash on you.

Thanks

Ask at the golf shop for "Caddie Cash" and they will give you what ever amount you need/want and charge it back to your room (which you then settle by credit card at the end of your stay)

Trying to find info on how long a walk is each course?  Any ideas?

also what are the easiest walks and which are toughest?

Have not played the sheep ranch so I can't add it, but here is my order from easiest to toughest.

Punch Bowl

Shortys

Preserve

Bandon Dune

Pacific Dunes

Old MacDonald

Bandon Trails

The wind and weather on any given day can add to the effort required.

I'd agree the Sheep Ranch is just a touch easier to walk than Bandon.  The hill back up to the clubhouse on #11 is really the only significant uphill on the course except for one internal hill in a fairway on #14(?).  Bandon is pretty flat after the tee shot on 3 but has a little more small up and downs internally, and the uphill to #1 green, back down hill and back up to #2 tee, then down and back up to #2 green and #3 tee is more than SR.

Overall all the courses are fairly easy walks, around 6 to 7 miles depending on how much meandering you're doing.  Trails is the only one I'd say starts to trend toward tougher walk.  The biggest walking issue at Bandon is doing multiple rounds.  Any one course and that's it for the day is fine.

Someone posted the Walking Golfers Society years ago with their walkability ratings, which I've found to be pretty accurate for judging the walk.

Agreed on all the above.  SR is definitely the easiest of the full courses, Trails the hardest.  Though depending on where your tee shots end up, any of them can be a lot of small ups and downs added to the trek.

Check out the Solstice 2021 thread in the NW forum.  There's a post in there with the Map My Walk diagrams for all the courses.

Great points. I forgot to mention that the ground might be firmer than some are used to compared to their home course. This is both good and bad. On dry days it is a littler harder on the feet, but on wet days it retains firm footing so you are not slogging through mud.
