Thanks for the info!

Is the Preserve green fee good for multiple rounds the same day (like The Cradle at Pinehurst) or is it a one and done thing?

I suppose it would depend on how busy it is. When it is dead they don't care if you are looping back and playing holes a few times etc.

Any reviews of the new Forge Steakhouse that just replaced the Gallery restaurant in the main lodge?

We ate there last night.  I had not eaten at the Gallery prior so can't compare.  But our group had Lamb chops, ribeye, tiger prawns, and the king salmon.  We had salads and charcuterie and we were all happy.  Meal around $40-60/person, but they have a giant tomahawk steak for $140.  It's priced as most steakhouses are and we all loved our food.

Trails today fellas!

Played at Pacific Dunes yesterday and it was amazing. Had some of my normal high handicapper moments and blow up holes but also had some moments of pretty good golf. Made pars on 10 and 11, which are two par 3s in a row. 10 was 160 playing like 190 so i hit a 5 iron dead on-line and looked like the perfect distance but it just hung in the air and landed and stopped on the front of the green. Somehow i had a really good lag putt and made a tap in par. On 11, my mind was blown when the caddy said it was 130 playing like 180, so i hit the 5 iron again and landed on the green, good lag putt, made par again.

The preserve is best played without pace in mind. you can get behind a 12some. To be honest it more like hanging out at really cool pub, with the worlds greatest views then playing golf to me.

It is truly pretty hard to lose a ball there, out side of pumping one onto the beach on a few holes. Having said that if you are ball hawk you find plenty in the gorse.

Most trips I come home with more balls than I lest with. I am not even a ball hawk and give away found balls - so I am not looking very hard.

That is a great way to look at pace of play on The Preserve. Never thought about it that way, but it's prefect.

As far as losing balls, I lost a few too many to the gorse. None to the ocean, guess I'll save that for next time. That gorse was dreadful, I found it way too often. Actually, I did lose one on 18 at BD coming home. 😞

They put a picture of that tomahawk on their IG yesterday. 45oz. Woof. That being said, seems like a decent price for the cut!

New for 2022! Due to the popularity of The Forge, the bunker bar has been replaced with...

Mulligans: a 24hr no-appointment-necessary complimentary angioplasty facility.  Everyone deserves a do-over.

Anyone notice they’ve redone the course flyover/hole preview videos? They used to be by Envisage, but are now by Course Preview. Anyone know how long ago the other ones were done? I had noticed some differences in the courses between the flyovers and various course vlogs I had seen on youtube of the courses. Now they all seem to be up to date. For example, the changes made to Hole 2 on Bandon look significant.07CA5C9B-FFF4-45A5-83B2-8B433C409BE9.jpeg.150e2966e57de32cfc557c54ba19bb55.jpeg0E1A784E-5122-471A-BF42-11E4902E0308.jpeg.1b1baa949cbee263978eef26c7dbfeb4.jpeg

What's the best weather app and location for weather? We are finally a few days out and want to see. This is my second trip, so I understand the weather can be unpredictable.

I use weatherstreet.com when I pretend to be a meteorologist leading up to a golf trip.

Have found that Windy has the best radar of all of them now that the Weather Channel discontinued Storm Radar.

Interesting. Didn't know they updated it.

Sure it was just a confluence of the Bandon changes, SR opening, and US AM exposure, they decided to update them. They are pretty neat.

I use WeatherUnderground for my main weather app. I also use WindCompass for real time wind info. It's pretty slick.

Yep indeed! Caddied out there for 7-8 years when I was younger, and when the tees are up top on #10, it was always the exact same club into #11. Made my job easy 🙂

My first Bandon trip is next week - should I leave the 60 degree lob wedge at home? I've got a driving iron I could swap in.  I dont want to carry extra clubs if that high loft isnt needed!

Do you use your 60 a lot at home? Bring what you use at home and you'll be just fine. I heard "leave your lob wedge at home" over and over again - I think its got to be on a Top 5 list of bad or overrated Bandon advice. I use my 62 all the time at home and I used it a lot at BD. Bring what you've always used. Did I putt a lot from off the green - absolutely. But there was still a ton of opportunity to use it around the greens.

And if you have a driving iron you dont use at home - dont think its just going to start working for you just bc you are out there LOL.

These are pretty good suggestions. Conditions very throughout the year a bit too.

I assume you use your 56* out of the sand - but I find there are times when I was super happy to have my 60* as an option like when I find the bottom of the devils xxxx.

Not sure if you are driving or flying, but wither way it is not a big deal to bring 15 clubs and make leave what you are not using that day in the room.

I agree with dcmidnight, you can play the regular clubs you use at home.  I like to bring a second hybrid as a 15th club and give myself the option of swapping it out for the 58 degree wedge, but I find that I rarely if ever do that.  Obviously a lot depends on your ability, but I do think that even if you are playing bump & runs off the tight stuff, you will still find yourself using the lob wedge from time to time for different shots.  Hope that is helpful, have fun next week!

Turns out you can't say xxxx on here. So I will refer to it as the Devil's Uranus for now as surely the planet is not banned.
