Emergency trip to Bandon is now booked for Nov 7 - 11.

As expected, tee sheet was full so we couldn't get all the courses but we'll be on the lookout for cancellations. Playing Dunes, OldMac, Trails, Dunes, Old Mac.

I was booking for a foursome and there were times every day but none on Pacific and Sheep Ranch for our dates.

It sounded like there were only a handful of guaranteed to finish times available each day.

I wouldn't wait too long to book.

Visited Bandon a little over a week ago for the first time.  WOW!  What an amazing place.  It truly lived up to all expectations.  After spending $$$ on rain and cold weather gear, we had sun, highs in the 60's and 5-10mph winds the entire week!!   One morning is was cold warming up but by the afternoon, jackets were off.  Probably should have put on sunscreen!!!

We stayed on property (Chrome Lake) and dined there as well.   Food was great and prices were not out of line.  Lunch is cheap!!   Service was slow but like everywhere, you can tell they are feeling the effects of labor shortages.  They really are making the most of it.  We received a note the night before our arrival warning us of caddie shortages.  We had scheduled individual caddies for each round but ended up double bagging with a couple of guys pushing.  Not the end of the world.

The golf was amazing.  We had 6 guys and probably 5 courses selected as the best.  Already looking forward to going back ....but they are booked solid next year.   We tried for Sand Valley and the same thing.   Golf is back folks!

Bit OT, but should be interesting checking out the live cams of the courses on Monday with 35 footers breaking in the background.

The new one they set up at the snack shack on OM would be brilliant for that... and watching folks huff and puff up the hill on 7 🙂

Question about caddies in "extreme" conditions.  I know it's how they make a living, but if someone is going out to play in those conditions, does one forego the caddie? and if you utilize one, should you tip above the norm because of the conditions?

You probably won't score any better with or without a caddy in 75 mph gusts, but speaking as someone who caddied there for 8 years, you should definitely take one.

I say that because some of the hardest I've ever laughed on a golf course is watching shots in that amount of wind, and it would be cruel to deny a caddy such an experience.

No caddy is going to deny more money, but most probably won't expect extra. Just another day at the office

I figure the wind would be good for more than a few chuckles, especially if it's dry also, but I am mostly referring to the cold, sideways rainy days.  I assume the answer is going to be the same based on your experience.  Thanks.

Days like Sunday is likely to be is the reason I take along a half dozen old shag bag balls.

And to Rooski's point - it is really entertaining to watch what a 70mph gust can do, not only to a ball in flight, but also a bag/clicgear cart laid on its side...

"take that, you miserable little white swine!"

I told this story before at one point on GolfWRX, but in that kind of weather I've watched the wind die a bit, my golfer and I decide for a 9 iron for a shot playing 150y, and he absolutely nutted it

The problem was the wind gusted to 70mph or so as the ball hit the air right into our face, and it ended up finishing about 6 feet in front of us in the air heading directly backwards as it dropped.

We were doubled over laughing. It was an approach shot into the par 5 #3 on Pacific

In my continuing - did I miss this this and everyone else knew it - did I miss this new feature to pay over the odds when you are not staying at the resort? I can see it being handy for folks in peak season when available times way out number beds.

Wow, prices are WAY up for 2022.  Here's a snapshot of pricing as July 2020, captured from Archive.org.  At least us fortunate Oregon residents aren't seeing much at all of a price increase, but you poor out-of-state saps are getting hit with big increases.  In the past, Oregon residents paid the same as resort guests even if you weren't staying on-property (except July-Sept), but now there's a big differential.

TBF the peak prices are the same 2020/21/22, they've just bumped up the shoulder season prices $10/20 here. They've pretty much left Winter through March alone.

The 'Premium' day guest is just now an official category and you can see what you would have had to call about.

Now going back to 2011... 😉

Am I missing something? Looks like November went from $175 to $230, December - $100 to $140, Jan $100 to $140, Feb $130 to $165 and March $145 - $175... 40 bucks+ a round for 5+ rounds adds up. Not enough to not go, but it isn't $10. Unless I am reading this wrong, then my bad!

I see the difference now. The top isn't resort guest. Sorry!!

The tee times after 10am is what I noticed.  Makes it tough for 2 rounds if they are still enforcing the spacing between rounds.

Eesh guys - what are you a bunch of tiktok teens. Read, read! 😋

@roadtripper - ya the 10am makes sense, as those morning slots are primetime and really should go to resort guests, over some guy who's not staying at the resort and can bail at any time up to 30 days.

I never said the after 10 didn't make sense.  I think it makes perfect sense.  Was just pointing out the "fine print".  When I called about booking in May for that rate, I was told that the 2nd round could not be a guaranteed finish, at least for the days I was looking at.  Just passing along info I received from the resort.

Yes. Absolutely. I'll be sure to agree with you even more empathically in the future to avoid any confusion.

Got some of the worst, non-death, related news in awhile today. Was supposed to be at Bandon a month from today. My wife ended up tearing multiple ligaments and tendons in her foot and ankle. Back to back years we have had to cancel. I got rescheduled for the same time next year but it wasn't easy. Have 1 non finish tee time as of now. She is really bummed out. May have caught her at a vulnerable time so she agreed to book Sand Valley while we are at it and going to call Cabot and see if they have anything. I guess long term it may work out because she wants to go big when healthy, just sucks to go back to back years having to reschedule. Feel terrible for her. 3 elbow surgeries 2 hip surgeries now this all since her college golf days.

You won't see any of the ocean cutting over to Florence from Eugene and then going south.  What I'd HIGHLY recommend is to set your GPS to go PDX to Lincoln City on the coast, and then down 101 to Bandon.  It only adds about 45 minutes to the trip, but there's stunning scenery on that stretch of the coast between Lincoln City and Florence.  Cannot recommend this route highly enough for those that want a scenic drive.

This is perfect....our golf group is driving from Alberta, Canada to Seattle, and then on to Bandon next month.  We were on the fence as to whether to golf somewhere on our way from Seattle to Bandon, and for these four inland souls, this post may have given us reason to save our golf for Bandon.  Thank you!

Could hit up Chambers Bay on way down from Seattle.
