PXG 0211 irons - what do you think?

My 0211 set arrived very consistently at D1 throughout, which is in line with the stock SW (and frankly the same stock SW as my Ping ie1 irons). I simply applied a strip of high-density lead tape (right in the channel between “0211” and “PXG”) to get them where I wanted them.

Bunch of us already playing them. Wait to post in the review thread when you can review them. There is another thread about delivery times.

First, as to the set gap wedge, I think it is terrific. Here's a little anecdote on this point. So, the 0211 irons have been very good for me in every facet of the game, except for inexplicably, tee shots on par 3's. I just can't seem to hit the darn green--very often short pushes. This is my home course, where I have hit many shots and have hit the greens with many different irons over the years. Anyway, is what it is, and I need to try to figure out why I am having problems with this one aspect. Because otherwise, 0211 irons have been great.

So, this leads me to the gap wedge. 0211 gap wedge has been money for full shots, 3/4 shots, half shots, etc. So yesterday, due to my par 3 struggles, I throw my TM M5 irons into the bag (which are great irons in their own right). I won't get into the overall performance. But, the M5 AW in particular, compared to the 0211 GW, probably cost me like 5 strokes alone. It was just not in the same ballpark on any shots I was hitting with it. Shows how fickle this game is, and how tough it is to bring it all together. Bottom line though, if you are all-in on the 0211 irons, the GW is definitely a club to consider adding. It is so good IMHO. YMMV.

I hit the GW in the fitting and it's pretty good, ended up ordering the set with it.

Anyone has a opinion on the SW, is it more like CBX 2, more forgiving and how about distance and spin control?

Hit a few shots of my mate's new set. I am quite impressed on the feel. Yes, a little on the lite side, but just incredible how soft they feel.

I am not a fan of the busy rivet look of the other PXGs; don't get it really. Can those things get dialed in a per rivet basis to optimize my swing? I wonder...

The cleaner looks of the 0211 are money. I just wish they made a set with the same design with a little less offset and a little narrower sole, then I would be all over them. I get it, the offset and wider sole help the target market, they work. Nice clubs. Much better feel than the P790s.

I’ve had a few rounds and practice sessions with mine and made the decision to send them back. I liked the long irons but hit the short irons miles high. Nice clubs but they just aren’t any better than what I’m playing now. I do have a set of king forged tec on the way that I bought with the Memorial Day discount code. We will see how they perform. If I don’t like them I’ll just wait for the new Srixon irons

Yup--baffling game, huh... Hard to translate an entire round of golf over the interwebs. I am hitting poor tee shots from par 3's. Likely a mental/swing thing. I threw that in more as a segue of why I had the M5 irons in the bag for the recent round. I am no single-digit handicap, so it comes with the territory anyway.

Got my 0211's today!(Finally 4/25 order, but went through DD). took the 7,8,& 9 out on the course tonight. Hit about 20 balls with each iron. Have the elevate 95S. love the high ball flight(not too high). Was hitting the 7 and 9 pretty well, but the 8 a lot of toe hits. Got these 1 degree flat, as my I e1's are standard(tend to draw them more) .Jury still out on feel. Don't get me wrong they do feel good, but so far my I e1's feel a little softer. Maybe just more use to them, or not hitting the 0211's out of the middle enough yet. Will give them more time!

If you don’t mind Winn grips, you could install the original excel standard size grip And they should move your swing weight up about 4 points. The z5 weighs 50gms and the Standard excel weigh 42gms so that weight savings in the grip should make your wedge about D4. You can also try another trick of using very little grip tape to increase swing weight. I usually only put about 2” of tape over the butt of the shaft to get the grip started. Just make sure you use plenty of solvent on the grip and shaft.

appreciate it. I know I could use lead tape or break them down and rebuild them.

I can even get away with trimming them and playing -1/2, but at this point that’s all beyond the point. Stock length, 50 gram grip, 95 gram shaft and you can barely hit D0 on a pitching wedge when every other mfg on the planet has progressive swingweighting. Yeah I get it they are busy and yeah I get it they are on sale, but they tout this world class professional custom built experience and are falling on their faces. I’m not even mad about the irons, but I am livid about the DI that took 6 weeks to build and came in at C8 when there’s absolutely no reason that would ever be ok with anyone that knows anything about building clubs. Especially when they brag about how the screws make it soo easy to hit a desired weight.

if this was a set of stock TM clubs, i wouldn’t even care bc their clubs are assembled by employees who don’t even like or play golf, and they aren’t trying to pretend each club is assembled on the tour truck.

I’ve heard nothing but good things about their customer service. Give them a call and see if they can do anything for you. On the XF that’s crazy cause they must have heavier tungsten screws for them.

2 grams = 1 swingweight, so a grip thats 8 grams ligther should give you around 4 points.

I've had my 0211 for awhile. Since I also have the Gen 3's I use the 0211's for practice and "winter" rounds. I have the Oban CT115 shafts and for a cast head it has a great feel. I sent them to Golfspec for custom paint work.

I like them and no troubles hitting the par 3’s here. The long irons hit long rockets for me and the scoring irons have a normal flight compared to similar irons I have had in the past. I played a set of f8 cobra irons I bought for my brother last year and they were stronger lofted than the PXGs and I am getting really similar distances. I can’t imagine how long they would be if you order the stronger lofted versions. No complaints really. Very forgiving on poor strikes.

Bought a set on Ebay "PXG store" with MMT stiff that is excellent condition, same price as a new set but with an extra 5 iron and a SW. It also has a 30 days return policy.

Going to cancel my order from 4/29 tomorrow.

Yes. It’s odd though because others have been saying how great they look. Mine are less than a year old and have lots of bag chatter. Dare I say even more than my previous Wilson Staff V4 Forged?

I did not try the Gen 3 during the fitting but I tried all the Gen 2 and I want to love the Gen 2. But at the end, 0211 (7 iron) clearly feel better and give me better number.
