PXG 0211 irons - what do you think?

If you’ve got the resources. Go for it! These have been the best of the hollow body players distance irons I’ve tried (p790, i500, Honma TW X).

I actually went back to Maltby DBMs because of feel and consistency but took a hit on distance, at least a club length.

Took a chance on the 0211s and gained distance and kept feel/consistency. Couldn’t be happier. My set has gap, sand and lob wedges which have also been very good.

What shaft do you have in your 0211's? I am using the i95cw's and I do find that on slightly low face strikes the flight is very low ...but when I hit closer to center or above the flight comes up quite a bit. It's the one area form my own experience where I don't find there to be very good consistency across the face on the 0211's.

Also, from beginner’s perspective (ie, me), you have to commit to these and ramp up a bit.

when I first got them, in my excitement I essentially went right out for a round of 18 holes. Epic disaster! I thought about sending them back right away. But I put 5-6 range sessions in, and couple more subsequent rounds, and I’m really happy with these. Really motivated to improve my swing now.

Update on my clubs. I ordered my 0311T Gen 2 with stock Elevate Tour S on 6/15 and they went to Picked yesterday and Final Inspection today. Hopefully they ship today and I get them Saturday since I'll be out all next week. I was told teh 0311G2 shipped faster than 0211 (not why I chose them though) and it seems that may be correct.

What made me check was that I was hitting my 9 iron consistently left. Turns out it was 1.5* upright, and once adjusted, I hit it straight.

I doubt this issue is unique to PXG. My club has the equipment to check and adjust lie/loft, and one of the guys in the pro shop watched the flight as I hit each iron to make sure it wasn’t a swing flaw (who, me?).

A buddy just purchased the Gen 3s and I want him to go through the same process.

It’s not unique. Had same thing happen with a Callaway Steelhead XR 8 iron. It was 4 degree upright, should have been 2. Hit it about 10-15 yards left on every shot. Fitter thought I was crazy I’m when I came in saying 8 Iron was not to spec. He checked loft and lie and was like wow

I bought these clubs last year (July 4th to be exact) and coming up on my year anniversary with them I can’t tell you enough how much of a game changer these clubs have been. I was teetering between an 18-20 handicap and in just the year time frame I’ve dropped to a 12 as of today. Now it’s not all these irons as I’ve worked on all aspects of my game, but these irons have me not wanting another iron for as long as they are in good shape. The shaft Elevate Tour X with this head and the high bounce have been excellent for me. The one and only thing now is I wish they made them in the black finish, but that’s another story.

anyone debating getting these should really try them out. Also like others, I struggled hitting anything longer then a 6 iron for the longest time, but the 5 iron is so stupid easy to hit. I wish I would have got the 4, but that’s ok.

Best of luck to anyone who try’s them out.

Yeah I’m good with my bag set up now, but that’s how good the long irons are should have got it at the time.

Well i have my 0211 couple weeks now, several range sessions and i am hitting it all over the places and xtremely inconsistent. Ready to send it back and talked to my club champion club when doing a wedge fitting and he really like the 0211 and MMT, asked me to come back in a few days and retro fit. I hit a few shots and he checked a few things, all the clubs are C9 to D0, he told me to go home and put 4 grams of lead tape to each club and just take it to the course. Which i did the next day and go to the course with 0211 today. But about 15 balls on the range and wow it become the irons that i want, higher, longer and so easy to swing. Played 18 and I strike the iron beautifully.

Check your swing weight if you are struggled with these irons. Btw, i requested them to be D2.

Stock grips are trash. I told my fitter that and we was surprised. Told him GolfWrx said so and he laughed . Those grips truly suck.

I put my 0211’s with MMT 80 on the monitor versus my T200’s with MMT 80 and I’m consistently see 3+ MPH more in ball speed with the T200’s in mid-irons but that number gets hotter in the short irons - 4.2 mph. Not sure if that is some of the impact but as much as I like the look, feel and dispersion of the 0211’s I do feel I’m not getting the ballspeed that some other irons offer.

T200 is even stronger loft than 0211, 7 iron is 1 degree stronger at 30, PW is 2 degree stronger at 43.

That make prefect sense you see more ball speed at mid-irons and even more speed at short irons. Titleist make really good irons, the T200 with MMT 80 cost a lot more than 0211, right?

New here but wanted to weigh in. This thread was super helpful in my decision.

Got fitted for 0211s back before lockdown in CT. Pretty easy and great fitter, 4-G came quickly (before widespread sale but still got the low rate). First set I've bought in 10+ years and a major upgrade from the og ZB Forged I was rocking...

Pros

Forgiving but workable both waysMy dispersion is way way downGreat look at address (longer / slightly wider head didn't bother me)15+ rounds in and no bag chatter or marks or anything that others were reportingCons

The grips really are trash... feel fine until you have a super hot day then it's like trying to swing an eel... Need to swap them...CS was great at start, but ordered a driver during the larger sale and was a bit of a nightmare. They were trying, but got the wrong shaft twice and took forever... Just overwhelmed by volumeI've been playing way more, but regardless have broken my personal best at the home course three times just this year and had my best round ever just last week. Feel like I can do whatever I want with the ball if I'm <215 yds.

ZBs treated me well!

Just went with the Elevate Tour. They weren't an upcharge, were most similar to what i was already playing, and I was hitting them really well in the fitting.

In terms of swing weight, didn't make any changes and didn't notice any major differences from previous shafts. Main adjustment was going from +.5 to +1 which took me couple range sessions, but dialed in quickly...

Looks like my 0211's have arrived today with the i95 shafts. I sent them back after the i70 shafts were not good. Can't wait to hit them tonight!!!!
