PXG 0211 irons - what do you think?

I post here to have conversations... My original point was simply just because they are expensive, doesn't mean they are better... I think people can spend money to improve their game, but it's more than just buying the most expensive option presented to them.

I've actually encouraged others to buy PXG clubs (because he had access to their fitting facilities, and their drivers have been massively discounted).

My original point still stands: You can't buy a game and nothing that PXG offers is unique to PXG.

Oh well, have a wonderful day.

I still don’t get your point, except that “you like to say things... “

This is a thread about 0211 lineup, and you keep saying things that are incorrect about it. Last years version was $84 per club, this years are $105.

That pricing is better than any other OEM.

Far from the “most expensive option”.... or “buying a game”.

You have a wonderful day also.

Might want to look at the date I posted that, and what the price was then...

Now that I've started playing a bit more often, I noted a loss of distance between Gen 1 0211s w/ Reg. MMT and prior G700s w/ Reg Alta CB. It might be that I am out of practice or getting older - I have parked my 0211s and picked up a set of G410s w/ Reg Alta CB and have gotten some of my distance back ... maybe I'm hitting the Pings better that the PXGs right now (the lofts are not that much different) - not sure. I will try the 0211s again after I get some more rounds in.

Could be a difference in spin too?

Did not think of that ... I am a high capper - by nature not a great ball striker so I get unintended and spurious spin ...

I wasn’t happy at all with the distance on the original 0211’s either, and I had the lofts changed to get close to the Ping power specs of the G400. I didn’t come close... almost a club short in fact.

A lot of the more powerful swinging players online loved them though, so who knows, maybe it was spin?

I can tell you this years version keep up or surpassed the Rogue X and Maverick (two really lower lofted sets) and the Apex 21’s.
The ‘21 0211’s are a completely different club than the originals. Longer shafts, lower lofts.

Enjoy your new Pings. You can never go wrong with the G series!

Thought I would post this comparison between my current clubs and the newcomer PXG 0211 irons. A little background on me and my clubs. I am 68 years old and play to a 10 handicap index.  To be fair, my iron striking should put at a lower index, but my putting lets me down.

My current clubs are custom Miura CB 57, Accra 70i regular flex shafts built MOI matched.  I ordered the PXG 0211 with MMT 70 graphite shafts built to my specs as much as possible.  37” 7 iron length, 1* flat, D0 swingweight.

Upon opening the box it appeared that the club heads were much larger than the Miuras but upon comparison they are very close.

Now the important part, how do they compare. As always, the Miuras feel soft and pure when struck well. The Accra shafts load well for my swing .

The PXG 0211 felt just as good as the Miura.  A well struck shot feels soft and pure. The MMT shaft felt very similar to the Accra. Ball flight was similar with a piercing flight. No evidence of ballooning. The 0211 flight was lower trajectory due to a much stronger loft. 28* versus a much more traditional 34*.

in summary, my $85 0211 seems to perform as well as my custom $200 Miura CB 57.  The 0211 won’t bump the Miuras out of my bag... yet. Will wait until I am able to take them out on the course.
