Are they as much of a dead give away as you saying that you're just laughing at guys? Mr. Pot meet Mr. Kettle.

Good, he needs all the help he can get. Let him tee off from the forward tees too. He still won't win or even make the cut.

I don't mind the cart for him. He is a previous winner and has no chance. Fans like him, let him cruise around.

Suppose every professional skier was required to climb the mountain by foot prior to skiing down it, and some skier comes along and claims he has a bum knee and gets a free ride up. would that be an advantage?

I'd think the bum knee would have them starting at a disadvantage already

If that was part of the requirement to win the competition, then a free ride up would be an advantage. It would also be against the rules.

Heard the guys on ITR radio this morning say that he has his game in shape and is playing some really golf right now. So he's got that going for him.

Nope just takes the focus off of the golf, to this sideshow. If he is so hurt he shouldn't play, go back to the Champions Tour. Being so overweight and unhealthy that you can't even walk 18 holes is a bad representation of golf and isn't what the sport needs. USGA had it right, he should walk if he wants to play.

That cart is going to flip over if it's wet. I just don't know how he's going to get around a few holes in the golf cart.

Point is he's being given an advantage regardless of where he places. If he finishes 50th, he's stealing money from the guys that finished 51st and after.

And if he has to walk with an ailment or injury he's at a disadvantage, it's a revolving door issue.

Walking is part of the sport, Day and Tiger have bad backs, they aren't asking for a cart.

Isn't the other side of the revolving door issue the fact that you are at a disadvantage in any sport you play if you have an ailment or injury?

Nope, anyone can claim an injury they have places them at a disadvantage to compete or makes it difficult for them to compete. I get you're a Daly fan and just want to justify his right to use the cart to compete but it's bogus. He should lose weight and get himself into shape rather than ask for special treatment in order to compete.

So does any guy with a bad back or knee get to ride in a cart during a PGA Tournament in your world? Do you not consider walking to be part of the competition and therefore want to see everyone ride in a cart?

You're defending one old out of shape guy that claims he can't walk and gets to ride in a cart so why shouldn't anyone with a injury? What's the determining factors?

I hear you. Just a bunch of old guys in here with superior attitudes who like to complain. Wait. You've already said that haven't you? I guess we all really need to start paying more attention to what you post so we know how to act and think and come down off our high horse.

I'm sure they were discussed with the PGA officials with far less emotion or sentient to "that's how golf is supposed to be"

He is considered legally handicapped because of the issues with his knee. He is registered as handicapped in his home state. It becomes a legal issues because is it definned that walking is essential to compete? If not then he can say that it is discriminatory that he can't play due to his handicap, but could if accommodations for it are made

Have you ever played golf? Never looks like a circus when I play golf at courses where carts are mandatory.... it looks like golf. Overreacting bud..

> > > > > >

> > > > > > I'm an anti faux controversy fan. That's all this is, you guys clutching your pearls over a non issue. You just want to blame his weight and ignore the actual medial issue with his knee. It's pathetic

> > > >

> > > > I'm not the one to make the call, the PGA is and they approved it. That's a nice strawman you got going there though. One old guy with a knee issues means all players should get a cart. Nice try, but not really

> > > You're defending one old out of shape guy that claims he can't walk and gets to ride in a cart so why shouldn't anyone with a injury? What's the determining factors?

> He is considered legally handicapped because of the issues with his knee. He is registered as handicapped in his home state. It becomes a legal issues because is it definned that walking is essential to compete? If not then he can say that it is discriminatory that he can't play due to his handicap, but could if accommodations for it are made

He's got a handicap sticker in Florida, they are handed out like lollipops at a bank. He's also diabetic and suffering from dizzy spells, why don't we let him hit form the ladies tees too. What a mess.

As far as the back injury argument is concerned, is walking typically the limiting factor for someone playing golf with a back injury, or is it swinging the club? Daly can swing the club but walking is difficult because of an injury so not even remotely a valid argument. (FWIW I am the furthest thing from a Daly fan, he's an incredible waste of talent and the human body)

I agree. I thought at first they were talking about the Champions Tour....but the PGA Tour?, come on. If you can't play, sit out.

Personally, I'd like to see a (one, at least just 1) PGA Tour event played like most high school/college kids.... you carry your own bag, no caddies. I'd be glued to the screen watching that one.
