Bought a 2019 Atlanta from Callaway Pre-Owned and waiting for it to arrive.

  • Grip : Toulon Design - Stroke Lab Pistol
  • Hand : Right
  • Head Type : Heel Shafted
  • Length : 35 in
  • Lie Angle : Standard
  • Putter Head Type : Mallet
  • Shaft Flex : Putter
  • Shaft Material : Steel
  • Shaft Type : Toulon Design Steel
  • Sole Weight : 20 Gram

Anyone know the weight of the grip it will come with?

I’m going to cut this down to 34” and put a 104cc Tour SNSR Contour on it.

Not sure if I got it wrong or they did, but the putter sent to me has a Stroke Lab shaft. That’s not what I expected or wanted. How hard is it to cut one of these down? Will the weight be off if I do?

I was talking to a fitter today about the stroke lab Austin I got and I need to extend it from 35 to 36. He said that the stroke lab stuff is in the middle of the shaft, so you usually have about 1.5-2" to work with at the top without affecting things negatively. Now, the caveat being that I don't know if that same answer applies to trying to cut it down, and if you can cut it down, if there's as much leeway in terms of what you can cut.

Based on screwing Game Golf, Game Pad and Shot Scope sensors into the grip of three putters I have with Stoke Lab shafts I don't believe the weight is that far down. I had to cut the screw portions down on each by a thread or two to get them to screw in tight enough not to lose.

To be 100% transparent, I got lucky cutting down the shaft! I play my putters roundt 33-33.5" and this started life at 35. Cutting it down 1.75" made me JUST MISS the weight by a hair. I actually forgot it was there, didn't remove the grip tape, and cut away. If I was to do it right I would use a little heat and then some pliers or vice grips to lock on the weight and pull it out.

Guess I should have read the whole thread and seen this post.

Looks like cutting down my Atlanta 1” shouldn’t be a problem.

@knudson81 did you end up removing the weight completely after cutting it down? What did the weight weigh?

I have played multiple putter since getting my Stroke Lab Las Vegas, and finally put the Vegas back into play last night. It just flat out fits me well for some reason. I tried to put a Scotty back in play, multiple CT’s even, but the Toulon is a flat out better roll for me. Feels like a deep milled but with a nice click, and the ball has such a pure roll. I honestly don’t know why I tried to move away from it, just glad I didn’t sell it.

After a brief experiment with an Atlanta H7 Stroke Lab, I'm back to my Madison with the H1 neck.

Loved the feel of the Atlanta, just couldn't get used to the Stroke Lab shaft deal. Didn't make many putts, so after a 2hr  shoot out on the practice green, the Atlanta went back under the 90day policy. Used some of the money for a new Ping Pioneer bag to replace my 6 year old C130.

There's some misinformation in this thread. The counterweight in the Stroke Lab shaft is right at the butt end. If you want to cut down or extend the shaft from its stock length, you'll need to first remove the counterweight, then re-epoxy it back in.

What changing the length of the putter does to the Stroke Lab shaft's properties (torque, bend profile, etc.) is a little unclear to me, though I'm guessing it wouldn't do much at all. It's just a light graphite shaft with a steel tip section. I don't think there's any real magic to it other than how it distributes the weight.

I believe it’s a double bend. You can use a CT tour from KBS if you want all steel

Double bend are dexterity specific correct?

Does anyone know the chronology of the stamping on the bottom?  I have a Columbus marked "Milled 303 SS" on the toe-end of the sole and the sole weight reads "Toulon" underneath the Toulon logo.  I have an Austin marked "Toulon Garage" on the toe-end of the sole and sole weight is branded with "Odyssey" underneath the Toulon logo.  The latest models have the Odyssey logo, so my hunch is that the earlier models are the "Milled 303 SS" followed by the "Toulon Garage" models.  Is that correct?

Toulon garage means it was built by their custom shop, not OTR (generally they are still stock head shapes, but have a different neck, alignment aid, finish than what their stock models are). And yes, the ones with more prominent Toulon branding & less Odyssey branding are older.

Everyone says Toulons have a very soft feel, but how soft exactly? Soft for milled putters or soft in general? For comparison, I have an ER2, 2021 Phantom X 5, Spider X, and a White Hot OG.

I have a few Toulons - i would say they are soft for milled putters, assuming we are talking about the diamond milling they have been doing the past few years. there are some flycut toulons from the garage or small batch that are completely different feeling - more of a traditional milled face. you can tell you're not hitting an insert like an OG so still feels like a milled putter, but on the softer side of milled putters. I can't really compare to others on your list myself - haven't gamed any of those.

I had a Las Vegas and they are for sure softer than the Phantom, they also don't have the weird metallic "tink" of the Evnroll putters. Not comparable to a Spider or a White Hot insert.

FYI, I just placed an order on the Odysseygolf.com website for a Toulon Chicago and the Tri-Hot 5k Double wide.  Chicago was shown as "in stock" and the Double wide was "3-4 weeks" out.  Was surprised that they opened the ordering before 1/14/22 or 2/4/22.  Also, no matter what I chose for shipping speed it was discounted to $0, therefore it was "next day air" for me.  Rec'd an email order confirmation as well.  I went back to the website a few minutes ago and now the order bank is unavailable until 1/14/22, just plain weird.  Can't wait to get these in my hands even though it's winter time.

I would agree with this.  It's a soft feel for a milling, but definitely not White Hot OG soft.  I have a carbon KP1 from Kingston, and it feels similar to that from what I can remember.  It's been a while since I got rid of my Las Vegas double bend for the White Hot OG 7s.  I still plan on getting the slant neck Las Vegas at some point, but my Kingston KP1 is back in the bag because I miss how good I was with it on lag putting.

Does anyone know if it’s ok to change the grip on a Toulon San Diego? Will it have an effect on the stoke lab shaft.

I’ve changed the grip, and it hasn’t messed anything up. Somewhere on here I read that the standard grip weighs like 65g and the oversized weighs less, so the weight glued in the shaft varies depending on what was originally ordered. The weight is right at the butt end, literally sticking out the end almost. I went from standard pistol to a pro only green which weighs more but the putter still feels right due to the overall weight distribution

If you go too heavy or too light it could change the swing weight drastically. So best thing is usually try and match the weight of the old grip and the new one so the putter feels the same.

Thinking about moving off of my Ping Scottsdale TR Anser 2 for a Toulon Madison. Anyone have any insight in feel differences between the 2 due to the Ping having an insert? Looking at the first run prior to the Odyssey rebranding printed all over it

Does anyone know if Toulon made a Madison in 2019/2020? It seems they did in the initial run in 2018 and then 2022 but not in between?
