It’s not “just” about ball speed. His was the same as molinari’s but molinari was in the fairway. Short is not as big of an issue as short and off line. Understand??

I am not saying he doesn’t have a shot. I am simply saying no course outside of Augusta favors him as much.

Before we write the tournament off as over remember how hard this golf course is and how quickly things can turn. Through 5 holes on Saturday in 2002 Phil Mickelson trailed prime Tiger Woods by 10 shots. Phil walked off 17 green Saturday within 2 of Tiger.

Jack beat Arnie in front of Arnie's Army in '61 and regularly thereafter, and they never forgave him. He didn't become lovable until very late in life, when Arnie was totally out of the picture.

Since when is sleeping on a full bed in a G-V a hardship? I don't fly a lot but had a bunch of miles and upgraded from PHI-MAN (boxing week EPL tour!) last year...slept like a baby in my pod and woke up with virtually no jet lag. Neither did my son.

Coming back CDG-DFW-LAX in coach though...my back was a little stiff for a good 24 hours!

Agree with the cold weather though...

His only saving grace at Pebble is there are some par 4s where he isn’t forced to hit boom stick.

Same for Chez Reavie who is even shorter, and doing even better than Sach. I totally wrote off Chez back on Thursday. I am such a jerk sometimes. (oops, am I allowed to say that word? apologies in advance)

Koepka must be licking his chops. As Tiger said, Keopka is hitting 8 irons out of the middle of the fairway while his competitors are hitting 5 irons from the rough. If his ball striking continues to excel, the pin sheet will favor his game at the expense of shorter hitters... unlike short courses with tucked pins.

I thought I’d heard everything, then I heard this about Fowler’s putting stroke:

“He actually creates a bit of energy, and creates a little lag in his putting stroke.”

Head scratcher for me, but entirely possible I’m missing something.

What I’ve always liked about Brooks(go back a few years prior to his first major) is that he is the closest to Tiger in his mental game/psyche.

He may not bring his “A” game and you may beat him on the board, but he’s got the shortest memory on Tour and the best focus and his confidence is through the roof, though he’s reserved and not arrogant about it.

In my second post on him(again, prior to his winning his first Big’n), I stated that if he stayed healthy, one, he’d win more Majors than Rory and two, he’d win 7-8 of em, haha

I still stand by both of those statements?

I remember two of you specifically who while you were kind, well, one commented that I must have been high on my meds when I posted(Actually I wasn’t, lol) and the other said that I overrated the mental game(he’s posted in this thread?), lmao???

I didn’t even respond to that latter comment, cuz WTF, how do you respond to something like that???

Anyhoo, I hope that he keeps the pedal pressed and keeps going

Playing when you’re blowing the field away is one, not a regular occurrence on Tour and secondly, something that is an art into and unto itself and for many, excluding Tiger, this is virgin territory.

That being said, Brooksy ain’t DJ or Jordan so I wouldn’t bet against him?

Stay well my Friends?

His driving accuarcy was 71% (10/14) yesterday. On the season he is at 62%. These fairways are considerably narrower than most on tour. I think I would call yesterday a very good driving day.

Just going by his own words yesterday post round, said he blocked 4 drives I think. Then he went and hit drivers on the range, so stats or not, Brooks did not feel he had a very good driving day.

I just bet he backs up today. I don’t wish it. I just think you can’t do this for 4 days. Not saying he won’t win. But hiccups today would be better than tomorrow.

Bethpage Black has a fearsome reputation - amongst regular golfers.

I don't think it's particularly tough at the pro level. Especially for a guy like Zach who's won two (count 'em, TWO!!) majors.

He may be a short knocker, but he's actually a pretty good player.

Speaking of tough for pros, BK at -12 after 2 days shows it's not all that tough...
