Headed to St. Simon's Island at the end of the month. Looking for reasonable recommendations on where to play. We are staying near East Beach. TIA.

Obviously, Sea Island's at the top of the list. I stayed at Sea Palms with my dad a few years ago and played there. I don't know costs or anything, but it was a good and enjoyable course. It's a bit of a drive, but all the Jekyll Island courses are good as well. I know there's some more around, but I don't know a whole lot more about the area.

Brunswick guest fee is about $80 all in.

Just got back from St Simons. Ended up playing the King and Prince course twice. It is a fun course, although very short. I wouldn't say it is great course by any means, but it is in good condition and has a few memorable holes. It isn't worth the $115 price tag. Check Golfnow before you go. Not sure why they wouldn't just make those prices their standard pricing as I would prefer to deal with course directly, but the pricing was so drastically different.

man i've been wanting to go up there for a while to play. i really want to play at sea island but the price to stay is so high. anybody know of any good deals or ways to get on for less?

Played last week but a family member of a friend works at the resort. I'd recommend the course, it was fun, just a bit flat with crowned greens that are a handful to navigate. The views are nice when its not foggy. Course was very wet, which is understandable after getting like 3/4" rain the day before. Putting green was like a 12 on stimp, course was maybe a 10. Layout was ok fairly generous off the tee considering it's usually marsh/pond on one side or the other. Zero roll hurts the score, coming into par 4's with 5i-3W wasn't much fun. To me though, this is one where the facilities outshine the course. The holes aren't quite as defined in my mind now after playing such as places like Torrey, Riviera, Firestone, etc. A lot of long doglegs to tricked up greens.

There are some public courses in Brunswick, but they are more i'm at the beach and I will play golf. Not anything special, but they are a piece of ground made into a golf course. So spend the money on King & Prince or find a way on to BCC, Sea Island, or Frederica. Biggest way to enjoy that area is by eating, so much good food.

Just wanted to add in this thread that Sapelo Hammock is a nice little hidden gem just north of Sea Island. Fun course, fun layout. Weaves through some old trees, along a marsh, with just a few houses...gives you a bit of everything. I've only been once but looking to go back. Conditions were good, little drainage issue here or there but forgivable in rainy season. Greens rolled well. Lot of undulation tee to green (which causes said drainage issues.)

 

Price we paid was under $60 and replay was like $15 or $20 so we did the front 9 twice.
