How are you getting along with the CBX Full-Face wedge? I have been considering purchasing one. I have an original CBX 58 really like it. I thought it might be fun to give the full face a try. I typically use my 58 around the greens and for partial shots from 50 yards in. Anything longer than that I switch to my G25 wedges.

I love it! I think it has a much better shape than the Hi Toe or PM grind and super forgiving. Give it a try for sure!

Never thought the day would come that something would dethrone my TS2 9.5 with Tensei PW 60 but went to a fitting and the G410 10.5* with Tour 65 X flex beat it out. Averages were 265 carry, 280 total, 2200 spin and launch avg at 13*. Will be putting my Tensei Pro White 60 in the 410 head. Amazed at how straight it was and forgiving it is. Never thought I’d be in a PING driver after having a G30 in the bag some time ago (couldn’t get over the rocks in a metal trash can sound at impact) but the 410 sounds light years better. Doesn’t sound as good as the TS2 but more consistent. Surprised at being fit into a 10.5 head because the TS2 I already launch high enough. The 9 degree head of the 410 I couldn’t get the height so 10.5 it is!

PING G410 10.5* Driver w/ Tensei Pro White 60g went out on its maiden voyage yesterday and man this thing is deadly! Didn't think I could get any more distance than my TS2 but this thing is straight and long! Probably my best purchase of 2020 and upset I didnt make the switch sooner.

Found my new gamer. Bettinardi Tour Dept QB6 SBS with Tour Blast Finish, DASS, Flymill. Also installed a Stability Tour shaft. ?

The bag is slowly starting to morph into what i would call my end result for my game. 

 

- Tested the Tensei AV Raw White compared to my Tensei Pro 60 Stiff and the Tensei Pro won out on feel and accuracy. 

 

- Currently testing the LA Golf Tour AXS Blue 60 Stiff shaft in my PING G410+ 10.5 head

 

- Went to my fitter for a tune up on my driver, after testing different sleeve combo's on the head the best one that worked for my swing was the "big -"  and weight in the "fade" setting. Previously I had the 10.5* head at standard sleeve and loft. Now the head is at 9* with weight in the toe. 

 

- Carried the CBX2 wedges  in 50/54/58 but they left something to be desired so picked up the Callaway MD5 Jaws wedges in 50/12W, 54/10S & 58/12X with KBS $-Taper 120 S shafts. 

 

- My fitter also had me do some extensive testing to determine the best lie angle for me. We discovered that 4* up on irons and wedges best suited my swing and due to my height and arm length felt the most comfortable with my swing. Foresight showed my lie angle at impact and contact greatly improved with this

 

- Kind of went through a putter carousel since quarentine started and finally landed on the Bettinardi QB6 SBS Dass Tour Dept. The putter was purchased at 34' and I usually play 35". After testing different putter shafts (LAGP, Stability, Stability Tour, TT, Accra). My fitter and I settled on 36" in length, 70* lie angle, 3* of loft and the Stability Tour shaft. The putter now feels more secure in my stroke, there is no need to hunch or reach due to it being too short for me. 

 

- I am awaiting delivery of an ACCRA FX 2.0 300h M4 hybrid shaft to test in the G410 3/19* hybrid. Will update that accordingly. 

 

Testing continues for Hybrid shaft, Driver shaft but everything else seems to be staying in the bag and not changing for quite some time (famous last words)

Update on testing:

 

- just for the fun of it my fitter had me try 70g driver shaft, 80g fairway shaft and 90g hybrid shafts to see if that helped with my transition and keep dispersion a bit tighter 

 

- Came away with awesome results. Swing feels more connected with the heavier weights in the shafts and I can feel the head a lot better 

 

New setup is 

 

G410 set @ 10.5*/Fade weight setting with the Ventus Blue Velocore 7S

 

G410 5W @ 16.5* with Ventus Blue Velocore 8S

 

G410 3HY @ 20.5 with Ventus Blue HB 9X

 

....was surprised about the Ventus 9X hybrid shaft. Thought it was going to be way too much shaft for me with a smooth transition and 102ish SS with driver but love it!

Well haven't played much golf in the last couple of months. The wife and I are expecting our first so its just been combing through WRX and using my putting mat lately. Baby is due in 8 days so thought I would give an update. Probably wont be playing golf for a bit once he's born but got some new toys coming and will set the bag for 2021. 

 

- TSi3 9* w/ Tensei AV Raw 65S which replaced the G410 9* w/ Tensei Pro White 60S

 

- Mizuno ST-Z 18* (set to 16*) w/ Tensei AV Raw 75S which replaced G410 17.5* w/ Diamana D+ LTD

 

- PING G425 19* (Set to F+-20.5*) w/ PING Tour 85S which replaced G410 19* w/ Accra FX 300h M4

 

- Irons remain the same with the Apex CF19 5-PW w/ Modus 105S

 

- Wedges remain the same with the MD5 50*W/54*S/58*X w/ KBS $-Taper Black 120S

 

- Mizuno M-Craft IV w/ Stability Tour Black replacing .....well the entire carousel of putters I've gone through in the past. Sticking with one in the stable moving forward.

Havent been able to update the bag or golf much as we had our first child in February so slowly starting to get back into playing now. The bag has changed and since diapers are expensive I wont be changing it any time soon. For the rest of the season the bag will be as follows:

Wedges: Custom MD5 50* (W Grind), 54* (S Grind), 58* (X Grind) with KBS $-Taper 120 Black Stiff

Putter: Odyssey Toulon Austin @ 36" 

 

- Driver, Fairway, Hybrid, Wedges & Irons all have Golf Pride MCC +4  Grey Std grips with 4 total wraps

 

- Irons & Wedges are all 1/2" over standard and 4* upright

 

- Putter is 2* upright and 36" in length. Really like the grip on it its a Golf Pride Pro Only Cord Green Star

 

Bag: OGIO Alpha Convo 514 RTC Bag in Black/Red

Headcovers: Rose & Fire Ballistic Nylon

Ball: '21 TaylorMade TP5x

 

 

I think the only change that might happen to the bag this year is finding a TBC blade cover for the putter but other than that I am set!

Literally 4 Bettie's in so many minutes catching up late on your post, haha. very nice.

 

How is the Pro Only grip ? looing for something light and thin to replace my superstroke. Getting a bit sick of the more chunky grips. How about the weight ? One of my clubs i need to lighten up the top end, but could be shaft change needed. Grip would be easier to try.

Ya well since I got that putter I’ve changed so much she’s telling me the same as your wife haha 

 

Pro Only Grip is great. Feels good in the hands but it is a little heavy at 94g. I have it on my Toulon Austin but opted to not put one in the TM Spider I have now. If you’re looking for lighter I’d try one of the Winn grips that aren’t too large and come stock on the new Odyssey/Toulon clubs. Feel really good in the hands and last I recall they are 75ish grams
