2019 United State Open Qualifying: The Road to Pebble Beach

Recommended Posts

76 men have already qualified with the thirty plus added today from the top 60 in the OWGR.

That list is here.

https://www.usopen.com/qualifying/exemptions.html

Sectional Qualifying started today in Dallas. 102 players are playing for 10 spots

Scoreboard here https://www.usopen.com/qualifying/sectional/Dallas-texas.html#!&tab=results

Yes, Mike Weir IS on the verge of making a trip to Pebble Beach. Fox TV's Shane Bacon is not.

Japan's qualifier is May 27.

The rest including England and the pros in Canada are June 3.

Watch and see if your favorites make it to the US Open this year.

FS1 will again have a US Open Qualifying Show on June 3 at 11pm EDT. We'll have wait and see if the USGA does anything earlier in the day on their website.

We just need the rest of the former Illini to take Charlie Danielson's lead and make it easy by finishing near the top of the leaderboard.

If I remember correctly, the USGA had live video from the two sites where the pros were in Columbus and Memphis. They also had taped coverage from elsewhere.

The show on FS1 at night had coverage with video from most of the US sites. A couple had to go into Tuesday.

i might off myself up for caddying at least one of the two rounds at wine valley in walla walla......anyone know the course? hilly (i'm guessing yes. but how hilly?)

is it a good spectator event? (not expecting it to be the phoenix open...... but are there lots of scoreboards so you know what's going one?)

lastly, i noticed there are quite a few amateurs in the field. exempted to this stage? similarly, are any of the players at sectional qualifying "dead money" so to speak?

The final day of sectional qualifying begins in just a few hours at Walton Heath in England.

Here's the page to take you to all the sites and see the tee times for your favorite qualifiers.

https://www.usopen.com/qualifying/sectional.html

At the moment, the USGA has not updated how many spots each site is playing for. I expect that will happen shortly.

Good luck to your favorites on "Golf's Longest Day."

I actually wasn't aware of that. More or less referring to the actual tournament. Figured it was a good time to get it off the chest w/ out starting a fire in the US Open thread.

No worries...this is one of the greatest days of the entire golf year now that Q school has a different meaning. The Golf Channel used to have quite a bit of real time content on this day but with the move to Fox, that's dissipated.

Lots of surprises at Walton Heath. Pieters may be the only Top 100 player to advance.

Bernd Wiesberger, coming back from injury, looks to be in a 5 for 1 playoff for the last spot.

That was going to be my next comment. Pretty bummed about the lack of content. Just set up a camera on 18 or something.

I imagine they do something. Probably more along the lines of double checking hazard lines are clear rather than is everything stimping at 14.

For instance, the European Tour runs the qualifier at Walton Heath with a couple of USGA staff on hand.

The USGA staff at the the US sites are probably much more worried about running the competition, tee times, scoring and rules decisions.

There will be a recap show on FS1 tonight at 11 PM EDT.

The USGA already had a program on their website earlier. I would think they'll be back later this afternoon.

It costs Fox a lot less to show Colin Cowherd in a studio for three hours saying nothing of value than golf. And he probably gets much higher ratings, so I can see why things are the way they are.
