Maxfli Tour 2019

I love these Maxflis. The Tour worked better for me - i had much more consistency with it over the X but that's probably cos I dont make solid contact on every shot. The X played longer and was solid off the tee but my game isn't quite there yet where extra spin will benefit me in non wedge shots. definitely a great deal for the $.

Just hit a few pitch shots with these....QST obviously felt softest but BXS felt plasticky for some reason....the Tour X felt very nice...clicky compared to QST but better than Tour or BSX....this was only off a handful of chips and pitches.

Had a coupon so 2dz for 40 not a bad deal.....will try and get out tomorrow

Bought a dozen of each. Played about 6 holes with the Tour and gave the rest away and went back to my AVX for the rest of the round - one of the worst balls I've ever tee'd up in recent years. Tried the Tour X the next round, flight, distance were better, but lack of green-side spin, horrible durability and that clicky feel were deal breakers for me (I did try the matte white, and I suspect that added to the terrible durability - they seem to get scuffs/grass stains even from perfectly struck shots). I'll probably use up the remaining Tour X this fall so I won't feel bad losing one in the leaves, but would never buy again.

I honestly think my perception is clouded by the matte finish. They are definitely less durable "for me", and the feel is just totally something different. If I'd tried the normal cover my opinion might be different, but I bought these on the 2 for $50 deal on a lark, figuring it would be a cheap experiment that I wouldn't lose a lot of sleep over if I lose a few in the leaves, so decided to go all-in experiment with the matte finish.

To your question, the Tour was absolutely unplayable for me. Lack of normal distance, absolutely no stopping on well struck approach shots from the fairway, scuffs/stains from just landing in grass, you name it and I hated it. The Tour X was only marginally better, although I did start getting my normal distances back.

I suppose I could drop another 50 bones on the "normal" covered Tour X and might find a winner, but I'd rather just stick with my normal Titleist AVX. The previous year model has to be going on sale soon, and that ball just checks all the boxes for me - good feel, low spin off the driver, good enough grip on green-side shots, fights through the wind and isn't affected by slice/hook spin as bad as other balls I've played.

I've played the Tour X since May, right after that other site did the golf ball test. Did not try the Tour, or the matte finish ball in X. I'm old and don't like to look at the matte finish. I know, makes no sense but a golf ball should be shiny, especially after looking at them for 45 years.

The Tour X gives me more than acceptable distance and spin and it doesn't get confused with other balls in the fairway. I have shot my career low round of 63 with the Maxfli and many other rounds in the 60's. I can afford to play just about any ball I want but there's just something about the perceived value of the Maxfli. It works for me and I may have to stock up before Dick's takes them out circulation. YMMV.

Congrats on the great scores Bensdad! For me its not anything to write home about. I wish it was, as I've liked Maxfli balls going back to the Black Max, and in my opinion the bast all-around ball ever made, the original Revolution.
