What's everyone's favorite gap wedge?

50° Glide 2.0. Mainly used for the 110-125 range, and it feels a little easier for me to knock down than a set wedge, while still maintaining a bit of forgiveness that other dedicated wedges seem to lack.

I’ve found a GW redundant around the greens and can upshoot from the fairway on full shots.

 

Got my 46* PW bent to 48* and choke down for a GW distance; I’m very confident the ball will reach all the way to the hole.

Set Gap wedge. I can do anything with it that I can a specialty wedge plus it flows with the set and is more forgiving on full shots.

Do yourself a favor and go to your nearest PGA Superstore to see if they carry Edel wedges. They are the best in my opinion

It varies by model of iron.

 

Several years back, I played the Callaway X20 irons. The set GW (or AW) was hard to handle, and I had problems with distance control. More recently, the Apex AW proved to be a crisp, accurate club. The AW for the TM SLDRs (in my backup bag) also proved to be an excellent club.

 

Also, OEM marketing has had an effect on the availability of the specialty GW/AW. Many GI iron models now have the AW as their highest lofted club. This means that the specialty GW/AW can be a hard sell for smaller golf shops. At a Thanksgiving PGA sectional clearance sale, I noticed a newly released Callaway 50° on sale for $80. The pro shop rep told me no members at his club had touched the wedge the entire summer. He said everyone was just playing the AW that came with their iron set.

That's why the set "GW" is the way to go for me. It's essentially a pitching wedge....

Older iron set here, Maxfli Revolution black dots with a 48* PW, which I love, so I use the set iron as my "GW."

In my parlance, my gap wedge is a 52-08F SM4,

thinking of trying a 52-12F SM5 for the softer conditions we have in the midwest.

Might also bend a 50-08F SM6 to 52 for an inbetween-er.

Absolutely love my Mack Daddy 3 50deg. I put the same shaft I have in my irons in, and it's one of my favourite clubs in the bag.

I have a MD3 in 52. I might try bending it down a degree or two. I feel like I usually need just a few more yards then it can give

I need new wedges and I'm really scratching my head. I like my GLIDE SS 50* around the green but the more I realize it I'm having trouble with full shots not going far enough. It seems I can't event hit this wedge 100 yards it goes way to high. Feels a little light I'm not sure whats going on. I busted out my old SCOR 51* with KBS Genius shaft I think its 120g and was hitting it 5-7 yards further then the glide. Seemed to not lose distance. I think it is more forgiving despite being a tiny compact shape.

 

I might game it for a while or try the new Hogan Equalizers if they are similar. Anyone hit these?

I prefer the specialized gap wedge (50*).  Set gap wedges are marginally better on full shots, but specialized wedges are significantly better around the greens.

My very favorite gap wedge is Wishon 575MMC (50*) set wedge. I am confident with both the MB and CB from 100-120, high or flighted down. Ironically, I never really used it for pitching or chipping.

Vokey 50 deg with 12 deg bounce. 8 deg bounce digs too much. PW is 46 deg so GW is always based on that.

JPX-900F gap wedge has been money for me. I use it for full shots and any green side chips. It has a ground leading edge that prevents digging.

I've played a vokey gap wedge for years, but will likely look at doing more of a blended set next time around. Something like a JPX 921 Tour will be what I'm looking for next time around.

never liked carrying 3 wedges plus a PW. Easier to use old school lofts with only 2 specialty wedges. 
 

always liked Tigers loft gapping but with more modern PW lofts in the 46-47 range, a 54/60 combo blends well for me gapping wise.

My set pw is 48.  From there I go 53, 58.  Love flighting my pw between 115-130

SW: 54* Mizuno S18

LW: 60* Titleist WedgeWorks SM7

 

I only use the GW for approach shots.  Full shots = 110yds, 3/4 shots = 90yds.   Very happy with the S18s, great feel and consistent distance.  

 

Before the MP54s I had Mizuno JPX 825 Pros.  That set came with a 50* gap wedge that I never used (replaced it with an MP-T4).

 

Eventually I sent the JPX 825 Pro gap wedge up north with an old set of Mizunos to reside at my buddy's house (so i wouldn't have to travel with my sticks).  Have played a few rounds with them, and that gap wedge has been a solid flag hunter.  Go figure.

IMO it depends on what you like to chip with.  I prefer chipping with a "blade" style wedge so I carry a 52* callaway forged. I also have a 48* wedge from my AP3 set for full shots, but I rarely use it green-side.
