Titleist TS hybrids, U500 & U510 utility irons

I have the U500 in the 3 & 4 iron with the stock Smoke shaft. Very happy with both!

Originally had the U510 in the 3, and it only took a couple of swings to realize my mistake. Couldn’t stand the sound, and didn’t like the look.

Highly recommend the U500’s however.

Reading through this u500 a bit chunkier than the tmb 716?

offset seams ridiculously low on the u500?

hard to kick out my tmb 716 addi 105 , had to hotmelted the hell out of it to get too d4

I found the u500 to be a bit slimmer than the TMB. Also less offset, which I prefer. The u510 is definitely a lot chunkier than the TMB. Personally, I like the u500 (which I play in a 3 iron) a lot more the the TMB, and found it to be better performing than the TMB. If you don't like the look and unless it's better performing than your TMB, I wouldn't bother up grading.

That in my opinion is the key to a lot of these modern hollow driving irons in terms of feel, loading them up with hot melt! It really calms some of the clankiness and harshness that can be inherent in the design and makes them feel more solid and thwacky.

Also have the TS2 21* set to 20*, but with the EvenFlow White. It's been fantastic.

Is there a benefit to turning down a 21 deg to 20 vs turning up a 19 deg to 20 deg? Considering doing the latter with my setup.

Potentially face angle and of course shaft (playing) length. With some manufacturers, lofting up (from say 19* standard up to 20*) can close the face at address while strengthening the loft (from say 21* standard to 20*) can actually open the face angle a bit.

For me, with the TS2, it was more about wanting a certain distance and so shaft length was a bit more important. In all honesty though I could have lived with either option.

I actually called Titleist about this to see if they could do it as a special order. Nope. And no plan to make it available to public.

Only hope is that one of these pros who has one will give up on it and it will find its way to eBay.

I'm also interested in this. I have a U510 1 iron with the Smoke 6.0 and I can't stand the shaft... in fact I knew I didn't like the shaft before I ordered the club, but that's what the Titleist rep fitted me for. There's something about the feel I just can't stand - mostly because it feels totally dead. The EvenFlow White 6.5 in my TS2 driver, on the other hand... that feels great.

I'd even consider putting a KBS Tour 1 iron shaft in there to match my T100 irons. Hmm...

Reviving this thread... just tried a u510 and can’t get along with it, either with stock shaft or my matching iron shaft DG105. The looks turned me off immediately but I thought if performance was there I would live with it. Unfortunately I just can’t hit it well. Have an old TMB 716 which feels great but doesn’t seem to be as hot. Would a u500 be a better option? Looking to replace the 4 iron in T100-S mainly for ease of height. There is also a chance I am looking for a solution to a problem I don’t have, but curious if others have loved the u500 over their set 4 iron or if TMB was good enough.
